  • Bearcats take down Rebels, 61-0

    It was a tough night on the gridiron for the Owen County Rebels Friday at Walton as they took on the Walton-Verona Bearcats.
    On the first play of the game, the Bearcats threw a 35-yard touchdown. The Rebels then got the ball, but couldn't do much against Walton's defense.
    At halftime, the Bearcats were up 34-0. The Rebels got together to try to figure out a game plan to slow the Bearcats down and to score a couple of touchdowns.
    Following the half, the Bearcats were right back at it.

  • Rebels look to rebound after a...

    The Owen County Rebels men's soccer team played tough but fell short this week.
    The Rebels failed to ward off Henry County's strong defense in a 7-3 loss Sept. 19. Ricardo Perez was the only Rebel to score against the Wildcats with three goals, assisted by Wade Cammack.
    Perez was once again the scoring Rebel when the team battled Carroll County at home Thursday.
    The goal came with an assist by Cammack but wasn't enough for the victory.
    The Rebels fell 3-1 against the Panthers.

  • Lady Rebels end week on a high...

    The Lady Rebels soccer team had a short week after lightening ended the Sept. 19, game at halftime.
    The Lady Rebels were trailing Henry County's Lady Wildcats 3-0 when the game was called.
    Henry County outshot the Rebels defense 13-6 in the first half with three goals scored.
    The Lady Rebels quickly rebounded with a 10-0 win against Carroll County.
    Destinee Epperson dominated the first half with six goals and Katie Hensley nailing a 20-yard shot that connected for a goal to end the first half with a 7-0 lead.

  • Lady Rebels win big at Dry Ridge...

    Although the Lady Rebels season is far from being over, the team made history Saturday, breaking the school’s record for most wins in one season.
    The last record set was in 2001 when the team finished out their season 8-9.
    The Lady Rebels started out the busy week of four games with a 3-1 loss at home against Villa Madonna. Although the Lady Rebels had 25 shots on goals, the excellence of the Blue Lightning’s goalkeeper only allowed one to slip through, a shot made by Destinee Epperson.
    The Lady Rebels quickly rebounded on the road with two wins.

  • Volleyball team picks up win...

    The Lady Rebels volleyball team picked up a big 31st District win against Henry County at home Thursday, winning the game 3-1.
    The win put the Lady Rebels at 14-6 on the season.
    In the first set of the varsity game, the Rebels were up 15-4, forcing the Lady Wildcats to call a timeout and figure out a game plan.
    Henry County fought back after the timeout, but the Lady Rebels won the first set, 25-15.
    In the second set, the Wildcats slowed the Rebels down, winning 25-16.

  • Rebels score a win against...

    The Rebels soccer team brought home their first win of the season following a trip to Warsaw where they took on the Wildcats Sept. 14.
    Senior Wade Cammack helped carry the Rebels to victory with a goal and two assists. Freshman Caden Hedger and Richardo Perez also scored a goal, bringing the Rebels up by three.
    Strong defense from the Rebels only allowed the Wildcats to score one goal.
    The win came after a loss against the tough defense of the Carroll County Panthers Sept. 12. The Panthers outscored the Rebels 9-1.

  • Lady Rebels win 2 games at home

    The Owen County Lady Rebels soccer team scored big at home last week, winning games against Pendleton County and Grant County.
    The Lady Rebels played Pendleton County Sept. 5, winning 11-1. Freshman Izzy Herdman scored five goals, with Destinee Epperson scoring four. Both Mattie Walker and Katie Hensley scored one goal each in the first half.
    Passes from Jodie Ransdell, Epperson, Herdman and Meagan Bruener contributed to the 11 goals. The team’s strong defense only allowed four shots on goals from the Ladycats.

  • Rebels continue season struggles...

    The Owen County Rebels soccer team fought hard but couldn’t bring home a win after three losses on the road last week.
    The Rebels traveled to Covington but were unable to score against the Holmes High School Bulldogs’ defense, resulting in a 6-0 loss.
    The struggle continued against the strong offense and quick defense of the Walton-Verona Bearcats. The Rebels quickly rebounded defensively in the second half, but the offense was unable to score against the Bearcats’ defense as they went on to defeat the Rebels 5-0.
