    A lesson in giving: students work to make sure others have a merry Christmas

    A lesson better than anything out of a textbook is what one of Owen County’s third grade teachers has been sharing with her students for over a decade.
    Owen County Elementary school teacher Mary Inman began the “caring project” with her students when she began teaching 12 years ago, a tradition that she has continued watch holiday season and one that she says her students are always happy to get behind.

    City seeks bright ideas

    Owenton Mayor Doug West and the members of the planning and zoning commission are looking for some fresh ideas for the city’s future.
    West will host a community meeting beginning at 7 p.m., Tuesday in the courtroom of the Owen County Courthouse to take suggestions from the public on the city’s future in order to update its comprehensive plan.
    The current comprehensive plan was approved as it was in July, but the current plan has not been revised or updated in 20 years.
