    A Mayberry Christmas is holding auditions for the parts of Aunt Bea, Ellie, Charlene Darling, Mr. Darling and Ben will take place at 10 a.m., Sept. 22, at the Owen County Courthouse, located at 100 N. Thomas St. For more information, call Faith Clifton at 502-370-8841.

  • AT&T addresses court, expands access to high speed internet locally

    A representative from AT&T addressed the Owen County Fiscal Court at its regular meeting Sept. 11 to announce its expanded internet access to rural parts of the community.
    AT&T Fixed Wireless Internet for rural and under-served locations is now available to some residents and small businesses in parts of Owen County, including parts of Owenton.

  • Man steals, wrecks deputy’s cruiser during chase

    A 23-year-old man is behind bars after swiping and wrecking a deputy’s cruiser, leading to an hours-long, multi-agency search for the subject.
    Owen County Sheriff’s Deputy Brent Caldwell was dispatched to 2680 New Liberty Turnpike around 11:30 p.m., Sept. 8, where Caldwell said Kaleb Willis approached Timmy Howard’s residence and asked for a drink of water. Howard then questioned Willis, who knocked Howard down in the doorway.

  • Officials: Company could bring 70 new jobs to Owen

    Officials announced Sept. 9 they are in active negotiations with a “specialty manufacturer,” which could bring up to 70 new jobs to Owenton within its first two years of operations.
    The international manufacturer cannot yet be named according to Owen County Judge-Executive Casey Ellis, due to pending approval of tax incentives from the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development.

    Reception planned for retiring Chamber of Commerce director

  • 10th annual TRDHD Fun Run/Walk slated for Sept. 22

    The 10th annual Three Rivers District Health Department Fun Run/Walk will begin at 9 a.m., Sept. 22, at Kentucky Speedway. Pre-registration for the event is $15; same-day registration is $20 and begins at 8 a.m. The race may be canceled due to inclement weather (thunder or lightning). If the weather is questionable on race day, call 502-514-1582. Checks may be made payable to Three Rivers District Health Department and mailed to Three Rivers District Health Department Attn: 5K Fun Run/Walk, 510 S. Main St., Owenton, KY 40359. Mail-in entries must be postmarked by Sept. 14.
