• Mary Ann Kluemper

    Mary Ann Kluemper, 71, of Sparta, died April 23, 2009, at the Gallatin Health Care.

    Mary Ann was a former clerk and homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Warsaw.

    She is survived by her husband, Jim Kluemper; two sons, James “Jim” Kluemper Jr. of Ft. Wright, and Joe Kluemper of Wilmington, Ohio; two daughters, Julie Bowling of Florence, and Jenne Finley of Erlanger; and seven grandchildren.

    Funeral Mass was held April 25, 2009, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Warsaw. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio.

  • Kathy Fisher Higgins

    Kathy Fisher Higgins, 45, of Owenton died April 23, 2009, at University of Kentucky Hospital. She was a sales clerk and a member of the Kentucky Motorcycle Association.

    She was preceded in death by her father, Lowell Fisher.

    Survivors include her mother, Sadie Beach Stuedle of Dry Ridge; her stepfather, John Stuedle of Dry Ridge; a daughter, Ruby Higgins of Dry Ridge; and a sister, Diana Marty-Collins of Dry Ridge.

    Funeral services were held April 26, 2009. Burial was in New Bethel Cemetery in Verona.

  • Evel E. Hensley

    Mrs. Evel E. Hensley, 86, of Evans, Ga., died April 13, 2009, at Westwood Nursing Home in Augusta, Ga.

    Born in Owen County to the late Sterling and Bertha Fuller Sharon, she was self-employed and a member of Lystra Church of Christ in Mason.

    She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Hensley.

  • Louise B. Rose

    Louise B. Rose, 94, of Owenton, died April 14, 2009, at New Horizons Medical Center.

    Born May 8, 1914, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Porter and Aletha Poteet Baldwin and the widow of W.C. Rose. She was preceded in death by her brother, Edward J. Baldwin; and her sister, Rose Greene.

    Mrs. Rose was a Homemaker and a member of Owenton First Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School and Bible School Teacher. She was also a member of the Owen County Woman’s Club.

  • Dorothy Judy Hawkins

    Dorothy Judy Hawkins, 84, of Owenton, died April 14, 2009, at Gallatin Health Care.

    Born Aug. 20, 1924, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Lizzie Holbert Judy and was the widow of Boyd Hawkins. She was also preceded in death by her twin sons, Arnold and Ronald Hawkins; and sisters, Ruth Turpin and Lucille Osborne.

    Mrs. Hawkins was retired from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and was a member of El Bethel Christian Church.

  • Richard Wayne Lucas

    Richard Wayne Lucas, 62, of Ghent died April 17, 2009.

    Born May 10, 1946, he was the son of Gayle and Bessie Lee Allen Lucas. Richard was a farmer and retired Master Sargent of the Air Force, where he served 22 years and was awarded twice the Meritorious Service Medal, and twice the Air Force Commendation Medal. After his military career, he was mayor of Worthville, a member of the Worthville Volunteer Fire Department and a commissioned Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of Worthville Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher.

  • Barbara Cook

    Barbara Goodrich Cook, 63, died April 15, 2009, in Florida.

    She was born Dec. 6, 1945, in Hamilton County, Ohio, the daughter of Richard and Mary Kathryn Howell Goodrich. She was a bus driver for the Grant County Schools for 19 years and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

  • Eula Ernest

    Eula Ernest, 84, died April 17, 2009, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

    She was born June 23, 1924, in Owen County, the daughter of Amos Sr.  and Eartha Perkins Prather. She was a bus driver for Owen County Schools and attended Bethel Baptist Church.

    Janis Baldwin Riley, 78, of Hanover, Ind., died April 15, 2009, at Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover.

  • James H. Rice

    James H. Rice, 95, died April 14, 2009, at his residence following a long illness.

    A native of Owen County, he was born, July 9, 1913, was a farmer, and retired from Kentucky State Government. He was a member of Thornhill Baptist Church.

    He was the son of the late James C. and Anna B. Brissy Rice and was also preceded in death by two daughters, Lois Faye Neal and Carolyn Jean Rice; a grandson, Todd Neal; two brothers, Marvin Edgar Rice and Curtis Rice; and three sisters, Gertrude Rice, Alma Riddle and Mable Malcomb.
