Track teams compete at Boone Co. Invitational

The Owen County track teams spent Friday night in Florence competing in the Boone County Invitational.
The girls placed fifth overall. Top-10 finishers included Katie Hensley placing sixth in the 100-meter dash. She would also finish third in the 200-meter with Meagan Bruener finishing eighth. Hailey Chappell was seventh and Kaylee Miller eighth in the 400-meter dash while Allison Bourne earned a seventh- place finish in the 800-meter dash. Julie Herrmann was eighth in the 1,600-meter and fourth in the 3,200-meter. Makenzie Duncan finished third in the 100-meter hurdles and ninth in the 300-meter hurdles.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Bruener, Chappell, Miller and Hensley finished second. The same four were fourth in the 4x400-meter relay. Bruener, Stedam, Miller and Duncan were fourth in the 4x200-meter relay while Bourne, Jessica Herrmann, Julie Herrmann and Autumn Hunter placed ninth in the 4x800-meter relay.
In the field events, Duncan was sixth in the high jump while Stedam was tenth in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump. Alex Clifton was fourth and Kelsi Carter sixth in the discus. Clifton was third in the shot put while Carter finished ninth.
In the boy’s meet, the Rebels finished 11th overall. Joseph Herrmann was eighth in the 800-meter run. The 4x100-meter relay team of Alex Gomez, Brandon Lewis, Jakob Ramsey and Tyler Roberts was tenth as was the 4x400-meter team of Joe Herrmann, Lewis, Riley Montague and Ramsey.
Andrew Banks won the discus and was seventh in the shot put. Ethan Searcy placed fifth in the discus.
The girls also took part in the Lloyd Memorial Gold Medal Meet last Tuesday. They finished fourth overall as a team.
Hensley was second in the 100-meter dash with Miller fourth in the 200-meter dash. Hensley was also fourth in the 400-meter dash while Chappell placed third in the 800-meter. Kaley Cram was fourth in the 1,600-meter and Morrissa McPherson fifth in the 3,200-meter. Duncan won the 100-meter hurdles and finished third in the 300-meter hurdles.
The 4x100-meter relay team finished second while the 4x200-meter team was fifth. Both the 4x400-meter and the 4x800-meter team placed fourth.
Duncan finished first in the high jump with Chappell fifth in the long jump. Abby Bitler was fifth in the triple jump. Clifton placed second in the shot put while Carter was fourth in the discus.
The teams will next be in action on Saturday at the Clash of the Clashes at Walton-Verona.
