Shut down isn't helpful

If the federal government shuts down Friday, do will still have to pay our taxes that day?

We are free-market economy and that means we don't pay for goods or services we (or society as a whole) don't receive.

So if the ladies and gentlemen who are paid to respresent us in Washington decide to shut the city down as a fairly meaningless gesture, I see no reason the taxpayers should have to pony up for the day.

Millions of American workers have had to take furlough days in the recent economy. Why shouldn't lawmakers who are so quick to disrupt the lives of regular people?
