Ellis shines in Louisville

Laken Ellis, a fifth grader at Peaks Mill Elementary in Franklin County, ran in the Cross Country 
Coaches Youth National Championships held at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville on Nov. 23. Ellis placed 24th in her age division and set a new personal record of 12:24.92 in the 3K race. Ellis ran her first cross-country season this year with the Elkhorn Middle School team.  She is the daughter of Paul and Jo Carole Ellis, and the granddaughter of Joe and Betsy Peters of Monterey and Don Ellis and Donna Wainscott of Monterey.
