Owen fiscal court changes meeting day, time

The regular meeting of the Owen County Fiscal Court has been moved from Tuesday, Oct. 8 to Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. in the Owen County Courthouse courtroom.
Shut down closes doors on conservation district

Due to the federal government shutdown, the staff of the conservation district is unable to enter the building.

New Horizons clinic to hold diabetes program

Fair board cancels fall truck and tractor pull

The Owen County Fair Board cancelled its fall tractor and truck pull due to inclement weather.  The event will not rescheduled this fall.
Art program aimed at young people at library

There will be free “tween” art lessons for students in the fourth and fifth grade Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Owen County Public Library,
Kids can learn about Monet and create a watercolor masterpiece.
Stained-glass artist to speak Thursday

The creator of the Owen County Public Library’s stained glass windows Laura Mentor will talk bout her artistic process, the history of stained glass and how she creates her unique artwork Thursday at 6 p.m. in the library.

Midnight Madness softball tourney scheduled

The Midnight Madness Men’s Slow Pitch Softball Tournament will be held Friday at the Owen County Park and Rec. field. The first game will begin at 7 p.m. The entry fee is $125 per team.
There will be a maximum of 10 teams. Hit your own 44 core softball. Proceeds will go to the Owen County Park and Rec. baseball program.

Cedar Hill Baptist Church reschedules fall festival

Due to the weather, Cedar Hill Baptist postponed its fall festival until this weekend.
The public is invited to the fall festival Sunday at 4 p.m. for a hayride, music, games, food and fellowship.
Benefit poker run to be held Sunday

A benefit poker run for the family of Fairly “Punkin” Dockery will be held Sunday.
The ride will leave from Sunset Grill located on US 42 in Warsaw. Sign up will take place from 11 a.m. to noon. The cost is $15 per bike, $20 per couple. Extra hands will be available for $5 each.

Owen County library to present Iron Man 3

Iron Man 3 will be presented at the Owen County Public Library Monday at 5:30 p.m.
The movie is rated PG-13 and teens must have signed parent permission slip.
Aerobics classes to be held at Family Life Center

Owenton First Baptist Church will be starting two new aerobics classes in its Family Life Center. There will be a cardio tone class every Tuesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m., starting Oct. 15. On Thursday evenings, there will be a step aerobics class from 7 to 8 p.m., starting Oct. 17.  The cost for each fitness class is $5 per session. If interested in joining either class, sign up at the Owenton FBC Family Life Center or call 484-2411. Walk-ins are always welcome.
Senior health to be focus of library event

A senior health fair will be held at the Owen County Public Library from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 17.
Flu shots, sugar/blood pressure checks, weights, shoulder/neck massages, healthy snacks, farmers’ market and door prizes will be available. For more information, call Jennifer Chancery at 484-3450. The fair is hosted by Senior First Care Advisors, LLC.

OCHS class of 1968 to hold reunion

The Owen County High School class of 1968 will be holding a reunion Oct. 19 at Two Rivers Restaurant in Carrollton at General Butler State Park. The reunion will start at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The reunion will continue in a private dining room until 10 p.m .

Miller-Dickerson family reunion to be held

Descendants of George Harrison Miller and Annie Bell Dickerson will hold a reunion at the Odd Fellow’s Lodge, located at 141 West Seminary Street, Oct. 20. Doors will open at noon. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish or two.

The new Owen County Public Library will host a meet and greet Oct. 21 at 5:30 p.m. to commemorate its one-year anniversary.
Bob Geresti will perform a piano concert and light refreshments will be served. 
Hesler to hold fall festival

Hesler Assembly of God will be holding its fall festival Oct. 26 at 5 p.m.

The Owen County High School class of 1953 will have a 60th reunion dinner Oct. 26 at 5:30 p.m. at Glenwood Hall in Perry Park.
