The Owen County High School girls golf team was in action at Fairway Golf Course last week.
On Sept. 10, the Lady Rebels took on both Henry County and Ryle in a nine-hole match. They would come out on top over both.
Shelby Power fired a 36 to pace the team. Debbie Farrar fired a 45; Lydia Merrifield, 51; Morgan Woodyard, 54; and Grace Chilton, 56.
The Owen County High School cross-country team traveled to take part in the Grant County Invitational on Saturday. It was a good day for the Rebels.
In the boys race, Hunter Trenary would set a new school record with a time of 15:58 to earn him a third-place finish.
Keith Stout also ran well as he set a new personal best for the second-straight week with a time of 18:54.
Cory Hudnall, Logan Bitler and Kyle Flood also ran well for the Rebels.
Saturday was a busy day at Owen County High School as the volleyball team hosted the Eighth Region All ‘A’ Classic.
The tournament began for the Lady Rebels as they took on Williamstown High School in the quarterfinals. They would have little trouble with the Lady Demons as they defeated them 25-13 and 25-19 to advance to the semifinals.
In the next round, OCHS would take on Eminence High School on Thursday night. The Lady Warriors won in three sets.
On Saturday, it would again be Eminence who would come out on top.
After three weeks on the road, the Rebels are coming home.
The Owen County High School football team played its third-straight road game on Friday night in New Castle.
Logan Lowe scored a rushing touchdown for the Rebels but it was Henry County who came away with the 41-7 win.
It was the team’s third-straight loss to open the season.
The Rebels will now play their first home game on the season on Friday night as they welcome the Lloyd Memorial High School Juggernauts to Patterson Field.
• Lloyd will come to Owenton on Friday night with a 1-2 record. They lost 34-28 last week to Holmes.
• Sept. 13 is the latest Owen County High School has played its home opener since 2009 when its first home game did not come until Sept. 18. The Rebels defeated Trimble County that night.
• Owen County is 12-15 at home under head coach Adam Fowler.
• Since 2000, the Rebels are 1-3 versus the Juggernauts.
The Owen County High School girls soccer team reached its second-straight Eighth Region All ‘A’ Classic over the weekend.
On Thursday night in Owenton, Mikala Byers and Hailey Chappell each had goals as the Lady Rebels got past Gallatin County High School 2-1 in the semifinals.
Autumn Gover picked up the win in goal while Adreanna Dalton and Amber Gover each had assists.
The Owen County High School girls golf team made its annual trip to the State All ‘A’ Golf Tournament on Saturday. It was their fifth-straight trip to the tournament.
The team played at Woodson Bend Golf Course in Somerset and as a team would finish in eighth-place overall.
Shelby Power had a good day for the Lady Rebels as she shot an 81 to finish in seventh place as an individual.
It was an improvement over last year when she shot an 85 and finished in 19th place.
The Owen County High School football team traveled to Dry Ridge Saturday night and hoped to keep a streak alive.
But it was the streaks in the sky that ended the night before it began.
Lightning and heavy rain forced the Rebels’ game on Saturday night with Grant County High School to be pushed back to Sunday night.
When the night was over, the Braves had put an end to the Rebels three-game winning streak against them as they defeated Owen County 35-10.
• The Wildcats will enter Friday night’s contest after defeating Carroll County High School 14-7 last Friday night.
• Henry County is coached by Jason Spencer, who is in his third year at the helm. His career record is 6-18.
• The last meeting between the two schools was back in 2010 when Henry County defeated Owen County 54-12 in Owenton.
