  • Youth soccer results

     Here are some results from last week’s Owen County Youth Soccer League:

    U-10 Mixed
    March 31
    Gallatin – 4 vs. O.C. Galaxy – 3
    Cody Dempsey, Katie Hensley, Jonah O’Banion and Courtney Dempsey played excellent defense for O.C. Galaxy. Mason Marlette tallied numerous saves playing goalie. Emma Herdman, Jason Gray, Cody Brummley, Hannah Reynolds and Isabella Herdman played awesome offense. Scoring for O.C. Galaxy were Isabella Herdman with 2 and Reynolds with 1.

  • Owen track team runs at Henry...

    The Owen County High School track team spent Saturday in New Castle. The team took part in the Henry County All-Comers Meet. Both the boys and girls had strong performances.
    For the girls, Andi Wash finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with teammates Ashley Williams and Andi Buford placing seventh and eighth. Jessica Wilhoite placed ninth.

  • Parks to offer free youth tennis...

    The Owen County Parks Department will offer free tennis lessons for kids ages 11–18 beginning April 11 at the Owen County Fairgrounds.
    “We’ve seen a sudden surge in interest in tennis here, so we thought we’d offer classes and give kids something new to do this summer,” Owen County Parks Director Larry Harrod said. “We’re always looking for fun things to keep local kids active and healthy. Plus, we’ve got a good coach who’s really pumped up to get a regular program started here.”

  • OCYSL kicks off new season

    The spring 2011 Owen County Youth Soccer League began play Saturday.
    Here are some of the results:

    U-10 Mixed
    OC Galaxy – 5
    Anderson County 100M – 3

    OC Galaxy came prepared to dominate their first game of the spring 2011 season. Scoring two goals each for OC Galaxy were Emma Herdman and Isabella Herdman. Cody Brummley finished with one goal.
     
    U-10 GIRLS
    Lady Rebels – 2  
    Franklin County Stoppers – 0

  • Getting on track

    The Owen County track teams began their season last week. They took part in the Carroll County All-Comers, the GOPW Gold Medal Meet at Grant County and the Glacier Invitational at Bracken County.
    There were many highlights from the week.

  • Softball team picks up pair of...

     The Owen County softball team got off to a good start last week.
    The Lady Rebels began the season by winning two of their first three games. They defeated Walton-Verona on the road and Carroll County at home. Sandwiched in between was a home loss to Gallatin County.

  • First pitch

    Another season of Owen County High School baseball got under way last week.
    The team played three road games during the week. The results were not what the Rebels were hoping for.
    The Rebels dropped the opener at Trimble County, 4-0, before heading off to the Woodford County Leadoff Classic over the weekend.
    Owen County got the bats going in its game against Burgin, but it was not enough as they lost, 11-7. The Rebels then took on and lost to the host Yellow Jackets.
    The Rebels travelled to Frankfort Monday and  won decisively, 19-10.

  • I don't believe it!

    When the NCAA Tournament began three weeks ago, one question kept coming up. Who would be this year’s Butler? The answer to that question is unbelievable.
    This year’s Butler is actually Butler.
    The Bulldogs made it to the Final Four for the second year in a row. Butler will now have the chance to get back to the title game where they almost pulled off the biggest upset in tournament history a year ago.
