With tournament time right around the corner, the Lady Rebels are hoping to finish the regular season strong.
The Owen County High School girls basketball team had a chance Friday night to pick up some momentum before their final two games. The opponent was Trimble County, a team which defeated the Lady Rebels the last time they met to deny them the right to advance to the Eighth Region All ‘A’ Classic championship game.

Every team is looking for positive momentum heading into the postseason.
For the Owen County High School Runnin’ Rebels, they have one more chance.
If the Rebels ever had a week they would like to forget, it would be last week.
Owen County played three Eighth Region teams and came up empty all three times.
The team lost to North Oldham, Anderson County and South Oldham. It is the first time this season the team has lost three in a row. With the defeats, Owen County falls to 18-8 on the season.

The Lady Rebels have gotten used to winning close games. In their last four wins, including the Jan.28 contest, the team had won by an average of just 3.5 points. They needed a game that was not decided in the final minute and they got it.
On Thursday night, Owen County traveled to Carroll County for their final 31st District game of the season. The Lady Rebels were looking to finish the regular season with just one blemish on the district schedule.

The Owen County High School Runnin’ Rebels found themselves in a familiar setting Friday night in Frankfort.
For the second-straight year, the team reached the quarterfinals of the Touchstone Energy All ‘A’ Classic. They would have that familiar feeling of disaappointment coming home on Friday night.
The Rebels entered Friday night’s game with Knott County Central and knew it would be a challenge.
The Patriots featured the leading scorer in the state, Cameron Justice. The sophomore entered the tournament averaging 27 points a game.
