  • Lady Rebels grab wins at Trimble...

    The Lady Rebels’ road trip to open the season came to a successful conclusion last week. The team picked up a win at Trimble County Dec. 8 and another against Carroll County Friday night to remain perfect on the young season.

    Against the Lady Raiders, three Lady Rebels scored in double figures to power the team to a 56-36 win. Rianna Gayheart and Jensen Wainscott each had 11 points while Samantha Toole added 10 points in the victory.

  • Lady Rebels look for success...

    Opponent: Henry County Lady Wildcats

    Where: Owen County High School

    When: Friday at, 6 p.m.

    The Lady Rebels and Lady Wildcats played a pair of close games last season. Henry County defeated Owen County 50-48 last year in New Castle. The Lady Rebels returned the favor when Henry County came to Owenton by defeating the visitors 52-46.

  • Lady Rebels ready for Lady...

    Opponent: Carroll County Lady Panthers

    Where: Carroll County High School

    When: Friday at 7:30 p.m.

    • Both teams went through the first week of the season without losing a game. While Owen County was defeating Grant County and Williamstown, the Lady Panthers defeated Shelby County and Trimble County.

  • Owen girls off to a perfect start

    The Lady Rebels’ tour of Grant County last week could not have gone any better. The team headed north twice and both times headed back home with a win.

    Owen County opened the season by traveling to Dry Ridge to take on Grant County. The Lady Rebels battled through foul trouble to pick up a 51-41 win.

    Rianna Gayheart led Owen County with 14 points. The sophomore had a pair of three-pointers and was six of seven from the free-throw line. Freshman Hannah Neeley came off the bench to contribute 10 points.

  • Owen County to host Wildcats

    Opponent: Gallatin County Wildcats

    Where: Owen County High School

    When: Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m.

    • The Wildcats got through the first week of the season with a 2-0 record. Gallatin County defeated Eminence 95-29 before defeating Trimble County 72-43.

    • In his first two seasons as coach of the Owen County High School Rebels, Devin Duvall had a 1-7 record against the Wildcats. Last season, he and the Rebels gained a measure of revenge as Owen County defeated Gallatin County in two of the three games they played.

  • Rebels get grip on pair of...

    The Owen County High School Rebels came out of the first week of the season with two wins. After dropping their opener Dec. 1 at Western Hills the team turned things around to defeat Williamstown and Berea to close out the week.

    At Western Hills, the Rebels put three players in double figures but turnovers were their undoing in losing to the Wolverines 66-53.

  • Commentary: Eldrick finds...

    People who get lost in the desert have talked about seeing mirages. They have been walking for days and think they see an oasis in the distance. They struggle to get there only to find out that what they thought was something special was nothing more than their own imagination.

    Such is the story of Tiger Woods.

    You know how when you got in trouble as a kid your parents used your full name. For the rest of this column I prefer to refer to Tiger by his real name, Eldrick. It appears that this tiger may have been caught by the tail.

  • Lady Rebels take on Lady Demons

    Opponent: Williamstown Lady Demons

    Where: Williamstown High School

    When: Friday at 7:30 p.m.

    • To say the Lady Rebels have owned this series would be an understatement. Going back to 1998, the Owen County girls team has not lost to the ladies from Williamstown Independent. During that time, the Lady Rebels are 26-0 against the Lady Demons.

    •Owen County defeated Williamstown twice a season ago. The Lady Rebels won 65-56 at home and 46-43 at Williamstown.

  • Rebels to host Demons Friday

    Opponent: Williamstown Demons

     

    Where: Owen County High School

     

    When: Friday at 7:30 p.m.

     

     The Owen County High School Rebels will be looking to win their home opener after losing their first home game a season ago to Western Hills High School. The Wolverines came to Owenton Dec. 2, 2008, and defeated the Rebels, 64-56.

  • Owen County youth Rebels end...

    The Owen County Youth Mighty Pro and Power House football teams recently hosted the Rebel Rumble at Patterson field in preparation for their annual trip to the King of the Hill Classic in Owensboro. The King of the Hill is a national tournament that draws teams from several states.
