  • Soccer teams ousted in district...

    Both Owen County High School soccer teams were eliminated in the semifinals of the 31st District Tournament last week.
    The boys fell to Henry County High School 7-0 while the girls lost to Gallatin County High School 4-1.
    Preston Forsee and Quinn Cole were both named to the All-Tournament team for the boys and Adreanna Dalton and Hailey Chappell both earned All-Tournament team for the Lady Rebels.
    For the Rebels, they were led in scoring by junior Alex Hernandez, who put in six goals.

  • Cross-county team runs in NCKC...

    The Owen County High School cross county teams took part in the NCKC Championships on Oct. 14 at Walton-Verona High School.
    Autumn Hunter was the top finisher for the Lady Rebels as she came across the finish line in 10th place.
    Lucinda Beach came in 16th place and Samantha Tamplin finished 22nd.
    Piper Walker also claimed a spot in the top 30 as she placed 29th. Not far behind were Kailey Cram and Jessica Hardin, who finished 33rd and 34th.

  • Rebel Ramblings

    • The Panthers defeated the Rebels 48-7 last season at Patterson Field.
    • Since 2000, Owen County High School is 5-9 versus Carroll County High School. Three of the wins have come under the direction of current head coach Adam Fowler.
    • The Panthers finished 6-6 last year. It was the fifth-straight season they have finished with a non-losing record.
    • Carroll County defeated Newport Independent in the opening round of the Class 2A state playoffs last season. It was the first playoff victory since defeating Bethlehem in 2003.

  • Rebels stumble and fall on the...

    It was another disappointing Friday night for the Owen County High School football team.
    The Rebels traveled to Bedford Friday to take on the Trimble County High School.
    Despite the soggy conditions, it was an exciting night for the Raiders who were playing their first home game at their new stadium. They had not played a home game since Sept. 27, 2013, when the hosted Gallatin County High School.

  • Regular season wraps up for...

    The Owen County High School Lady Rebels soccer team have put the wraps on the 2014 regular season.
    Owen County got things started by hosting Calvary Christian on Oct. 8 at Patterson Field.
    McKenzie Edgett and Amber Gover each found the back of the net for the Lady Rebels. Calvary Christian however would win the game 4-2.
    For Gover, it was her 10th goal of the season. The achievement marks the first time since 2012 the Lady Rebels had two players reach double figures in goals.
    On Oct. 9, the team traveled to take on Frankfort Independent High School.

  • Boys soccer ends regular season

    The Owen County High School boys soccer team wrapped up the regular season last week.
    The team played a pair of games - one at home against Walton-Verona High School and the other on the road at Grant County High School.
    On Oct. 8, the team closed out the home portion of the season at Patterson Field against the Bearcats. It was the third meeting between the two schools this season. Each had the same outcome – a Walton-Verona victory. Preston Forsee would score for the Rebels but it would not be enough as Owen County fell 5-1.

  • Lady Rebels busy on volleyball...

    No one could blame the Owen County High School volleyball team if they needed a nap.
    The team played eight matches last week. Owen County played matches on Oct. 6 through 9 and five matches on Oct. 11
    On Oct. 6, the team hosted Trimble County High School. After losing the first game 25-23 the Lady Rebels bounced back to take game two 25-21. The Lady Raiders would have the final say as they won the deciding game 25-20 to claim the match.
    The next day, the team traveled to Williamstown High School to take on the Lady Demons.

  • Cross-county team runs at Saint...

    The Owen County High School cross-country team took part in the Saint Henry Invitational on Saturday.
    Noah Hunter and Carson Cram ran in the elementary boy’s race with Hunter finishing 17th and Cram coming in 30th.
    In the elementary girl’s race, Allison Bourne finished fifth.
    Lucinda Beach placed 35th in the middle school girl’s race with Piper Walker coming in 75th place and Kailey Cram finished in 97th.
    In the boys junior varsity race, it was Westley Johnson placing 87th and Lee House finishing106th.

  • Owen County Youth League Soccer...

    Sept. 27
    Perry’s Fireballs vs. Team Dempsey
    The U8 soccer teams are looking great as we head toward the middle of the season.
    Both teams showed great improvement since the last matchup.
    Team Dempsey’s team had a great deal of shots taken on goal. The goalies for the game were Brody Hearn, Shaya Smith, Nathan Kemper and Lena Smith, who collectively had 11 saves for the game.  Also while in the keeper position, Kemper had a punt that resulted in a goal for the Fireballs.
