  • Soccer team falls twice

    The boy’s soccer team lost twice last week. They fell 4-2 at Henry County High School on Sept. 23. Alex Hernandez and Caleb Wilhoite had goals in the loss.
    The Rebels then fell 2-1 on Sept. 25 to Gallatin County High School.
    They will host Walton-Verona High School on Tuesday.

  • Volleyball team drops two matches

    The Owen County High School volleyball team dropped a pair of matches last week against 31st District foes.
    The Lady Rebels dropped a 3-1 contest to Gallatin County on Sept. 24 before falling 3-2 to Eminence on Sept. 25.
    They will host Carroll County High School on Thursday and Trimble County High School on Monday before playing at Williamstown High School on Tuesday night.

  • MBMS volleyball teams flying high

    The Maurice Bowling Middles School Lady Rebels Volleyball Team has been holding strong the past two weeks.
    The week of September 8th found the Lady Rebels playing a triple header which started at home against Gallatin County.
    The sixth-grade team picked up a win while the seventh- and eighth-grade squads recorded a loss.
    The evening of Sept. 9 brought big wins for all three teams as they defeated the Lady Panthers of Carroll County.

  • Thomas Nelson Generals outrank...

    The Owen County High School Rebels made their first trip to Bardstown on Friday night to take on Thomas Nelson High School in football.
    The Generals, who are in their second season of varsity football, entered the game after seeing their first two-game winning streak snapped last week against Christian Academy of Louisville.
    The Rebels entered Friday night’s contest hoping for something positive after having dropped the first four games of the season.

  • Lady Rebels spike two wins

    The Owen County High School volleyball team began last week by stepping outside the district for a pair of matches.
    On Sept. 15, the team hosted Calvary Christian. The Lady Rebels made quick work of the Lady Cougars as they won the match 25-17 and 25-17. It was the second-straight season Owen County has defeated Calvary Christian.

  • Win and a tie for Lady Rebels

    The Owen County High School girls soccer team enjoyed a solid week.
    The team played three games last week. Despite losing to Western Hills 8-0 on Wednesday the Lady Rebels picked up a win previous to that game and a tie following it.

  • Boys soccer team drop four...

    The Owen County High School boys soccer team played four games last week and dropped all four. They fell to Covington Latin and Grant County at home while losing to Villa Madonna and Walton-Verona high schools on the road.
    The Rebels failed to score a goal in all four matches.
    They will look to turn things around this week as they take on Gallatin County High School Tuesday and Thursday,
    Owen County’s only victory this year was a 5-1 win over the Wildcats in the All ‘A’ Classic semifinals.

  • Owen County Youth Soccer League...

    U8 Perry’s Fireballs vs. Wood’s Wildcats
    Saturday’s schedule started off with the Fireballs versing the Wildcats.  The early morning game started off a little slow but soon heated up.  The Fireballs did many things well.
    Nathan Kemper, Gabrielle Perry and Lena Smith had some picture perfect throw-ins, Brody Hearn and Shaya Smith did an excellent job in the goal. Hearn saved four shots on goal while S. Smith saved two.

  • Losing streak continues: Lloyd...

    The Owen County High School football team remains in search of that elusive first win of the 2014 season.
    On Friday night, the team traveled to Erlanger for a contest with the Lloyd High School Juggernauts.
    It was the second time in three seasons the Rebels and Juggernauts have squared off at Cecil Dees Field. It was also the second time in that same span Lloyd has defeated Owen County at home.
    On Friday night, it was the home team getting the best of the Rebels winning 47-14.

  • Rebel Ramblings:Next game - at...

    • Owen County High School lost 61-0 last year in Bellevue.
    • Bellevue is 2-1 against Class 2A District 5 teams this season. They lost to Walton-Verona and have beaten Gallatin County and Carroll County high schools.
    • Owen County High School Head Football Coach Adam Fowler is 1-2 versus Bellevue.
    • The last time the Rebels defeated the Tigers was a 38-12 victory on Sept. 23, 2011 on the road.
    • The Tigers are looking for their fourth-straight winning season. They have finished 7-5 the last three years.
