  • Lady Rebels ready to defend title

The Owen County High School girls soccer team will put its 31st district title on the line next week.
But before the team turns its attention toward the district tournament, they will have to finish the regular season.
Owen County played two games last week.
They began the week by taking on Henry County High School at home. The Lady Wildcats would return to New Castle with a 2-0 victory.
On Wednesday, the Owen County squad traveled to Dayton to take on the Lady Devils. Again, it would be the Lady Rebels dropping a 2-0 decision.

With just one game remaining in the regular season, the Owen County High School boys soccer team is getting ready for the 31st District Tournament.
Part of the preparation involved two games last week against two district opponents.
The first came Sept. 30 when the Rebels traveled to Warsaw to take on Gallatin County High School. It was the fourth meeting between the two rivals this season. The Wildcats won two of the first three games.
This time, Owen County came away with the 2-0 victory.

The Owen County High School Lady Rebels volleyball team spent a busy weekend at Western Hills High School. The team was taking part in the Fight Like a Girl Tournament.
Before they headed to Frankfort, the Owen girls took on Shelby County on Oct. 1 in Owenton. The Lady Rockets defeated the Lady Rebels 2-0 to win the match.
On Friday night, the team began play in the Fight Like a Girl Tournament by taking on Franklin County High School. Owen County would lose a tough match 2-1.

  • Bad night in Bellevue

The Owen County High School football team went to Bellevue High School Friday night and hoped to take with them some momentum generated by their victory last week.
    It was not to be.
The Tigers raced out to a 38-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. They would eventually win the game 61-0.
The win was the second straight for Bellevue over a Class 2A District 5 team. The Tigers defeated Carroll County High School last week.
Bellevue used a balanced offensive attack from a pair of seniors to win the game.

  • Lady Rebels claim NCKC title

To say the Lady Rebels have had success in the NCKC Tournament would be an understatement. On Sept. 24 at Fairway Golf Course, the team won its fourth NCKC title in the last five years.
The win wasn’t easy as the Lady Rebels finished just two shots ahead of Henry County.
Shelby Power finished second overall by shooting a 74.

  • Different issues lead to Owen Co...

The Owen County High School boys and girls soccer teams each had their struggles last week. The reasons were quite the opposite.
The Rebels played three times last week as they took on Henry County High School once and Carroll County High School twice. In the first two contests, the problem was the same - they couldn’t score.
Henry County defeated the Rebels 1-0 on Sept. 28 before Carroll County defeated Owen County 3-0 on Thursday. It was the fifth-straight game the Rebels had failed to put the ball in the net.
