The Owen County High School Lady Rebels had an incredible year on the golf course in 2012.
The Lady Rebels won the Eighth Region All ‘A’ Classic and the Sixth Region championship. It was the fourth All ‘A’ title in a row and the first Sixth Region title in school history.
As a result of the success, the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association has named Shelby Power to the All Region Team in the Sixth Region. Power finished off a great season by winning the Sixth Region individual title.
The Owen County Judo Team competed in the 2012 University of Tennessee Judo Championship Nov. 17 in Knoxville, Tenn. James Thompson took second out of 13 in the senior men’s brown/black belt division. Kaelee von Hellens placed third in the 11/12-year-old girl’s division.
Another season of Lady Rebels basketball is under way.
Owen County tipped things off Tuesday night on the road at Shelby County.
The results were not available by press time.
The Lady Rebels are coming off a season where they finished 24-7 and reached the semifinals of the Eighth Region Tournament.
Shelby County finished 16-9 last year and lost in the 30th District Tournament to Collins. Owen County defeated the Lady Rockets 58-28 a season ago.
The 2012-2013 basketball season has tipped off.
The Owen County High School Rebels got things started Tuesday night at home against Western Hills. Results were not available by press time.
The team was looking for its second-straight win over the Wolverines after a 63-55 victory last year in Frankfort.
The Rebels finished last year with a 23-11 record.
Owen County will be back in action Thursday night when they travel to take on Williamstown.
NAIA National Championship was held in Vancouver, Wash. on Nov. 17 where Owen County High School alumni and University of the Cumberlands sophomore Danielle Hoop finished 18th with a time of 18:22 to qualify for All-American honors.
The Owen County High School boys soccer team has handed out its year-end awards.
The Rebels finished the season with a record of 13-10 and won the Eighth Region All ‘A’ Championship and were the 31st District runners-up. They were also the NCKC champs.
The team won the Owen County Invitational and were the runner-up in the Frankfort High Invitational.
The team also set a couple of records. The 30 assists by the team were the most in school history as were the seven shutouts.
