  • Cross country teams headed for...

    Saturday may have been a cold, muddy day but the weather didn’t slow down the Owen County Cross Country Teams.
    The girls and boys team traveled to Lykin’s Park in Winchester to compete in the Region 5A Championship Meet.
    Allison Bourne was ranked second in the region behind Anna Rupp of Lexington Christian Academy. The two had met a few times during the season and Rupp had finished in front of Bourne at each meeting, however, this race would end differently.

  • Lady Rebels end record-breaking...

    The Owen County Lady Rebels soccer team closed out a record-breaking year with a tough loss in the regional tournament at Shelbyville against Martha Lane Collins High School Oct. 16.
    The Lady Rebels night started out slow against a strong and fast offense of Collins but quickly gained momentum after a goal scored by Freshman powerhouse Izzy Herdman. Collins offense quickly scored a goal, but momentum was halted when junior Destinee Epperson connected on a goal kick for another Rebel goal.

    On Saturday, Oct. 14, the Lady Rebels JV volleyball team traveled to Carrollton for the first ever 31st District JV Tournament. Coached by Kelly Burford, the team went into the tournament as the number one seed.

  • Lady Rebels fall short in...

    The Lady Rebels soccer team traveled to New Castle Oct. 9, to play in the 31st District Tournament in hopes of keeping the post season alive.
    The Lady Panthers tournament chances were cut short from crushing Rebels offense led by freshman Izzy Herdman and junior Destinee Epperson.
    Herdman led the scoring with an impressive five goals followed by Epperson with three. Sophomore Maria Bolanos contributed one and freshman Tori Lykins scoring a goal to put the game to an end by a mercy rule.

  • Panthers shut out Rebels 4-1 in...

    The Rebels soccer team was back in action at the 31st District Tournament semi-finals in New Castle.
    The Rebels fought a tough battle against the Carroll County Panthers but came up shorthanded when the Panthers offense pounced on the Rebels in a 4-1 victory.
    Luis Perez was the solo Rebel to score when he made an impressive goal off of a header.
    “I’m so proud of the team this year,” Head Coach Jr Herdman said. “Out of 17 players, 10 of them were freshman who grew a lot and improved a lot this year.”

  • Cross country teams compete in...

    The 40th Annual Lexington Catholic Invitational was held Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. Freshman Allison Bourne and Junior Colton Stedam received medals for their efforts.
    Bourne completed the state meet course in 21:13, placing 18th in the field of 183 competitors. Eighth-grader Destiny Goodrich placed 34th, missing a medal by only four spots. Stedam narrowly set a new record of 17:50.48 and placed 28th of the 235 runners. Westley Johnson had his best time of the season. Seventh-graders Eli Rice and Bryce Thornton and sophomore Kailey Cram set new PRs.
