  • Owen County girls shake off Trimble County

Owen County High School Head Girls Basketball Coach Bob Osborne still doesn’t think the Lady Rebels are where they can be.
Don’t tell that to Trimble County.
Owen County closed out the pre-Christmas portion of its schedule Dec. 21 with another double-digit win over Trimble County.
The Lady Rebels defeated the Lady Raiders 54-38 to improve their record to 6-1.
In their six victories this season, Owen County has won by an average of 21 points.
Osborne said the squad has room for improvement.

  • Rebels run to overtime victory

The Owen County Rebels were disappointed after their loss to Henry County Dec. 17.
And at halftime of their game against Walton-Verona Dec. 20, it seemed like they were going to have a blue Christmas.
Walton-Verona came to Owenton and after 16 minutes of basketball the Bearcats held a 30-20 lead.
After intermission, the Rebels began chipping away at the Bearcats’ lead.

  • Rebels grab big road win

What started out as a promising week for Owen County ended in disappointment.
The Rebels began last week with a tough, hard-fought win at Gallatin County before closing out the week with a loss at Henry County Friday.
The team headed into the game at Gallatin County looking to erase a pair of losing streaks. The Wildcats were riding a three-game winning streak over the Rebels and Owen County had not won in Warsaw since December 2006.
Owen County ended both streaks with a 57-53 victory.
