During the team banquet May 8, 12 members of this year’s varsity basketball team were recognized for their work off the court.
Teammates Nolan Tackett, Vince Toftness, Mason Borchers, Hunter Trenary, and Zach Ripy were honored for maintaining a cumulative GPA between 3.25-3.74 and were named 2012-13 KHSAA Honorable Mention Academic All-State.
Blaine Forsee, Chad McDonald, Carson Williams, Jarrod Ball, Trevor Lykins, Tucker Trenary, and Justin Shelton were named 2012-13 KHSAA First Team Academic All-State for maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher.

Stephanie Kaye Beverly, 40, of Paris and formerly of Owenton, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2013, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
Survivors include her parents, Buck (Pat) Beverly of Owenton and Sherry (Keith) Shelburne of Paris; and her son, Ethan Beverly.
The funeral services were held Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the McDonald & New Funeral Home. Burial was in the Owenton Cemetery.

It was a good day at the Class A Region 5 Meet for the Owen County High School boys track team.
After a third-place finish a year ago the team put together a great day and came home with a second-place finish. The only team better was Burgin.
Several Rebels had outstanding days including Collin Trammel who won his second-straight regional title in the 200-meter dash.
Trammel, along with Paul Banks, Ian Oaks and Chris Smith, made up the 4x200-meter relay team which finished first.
The same four also placed second in the 4x100-meter relay.
