Charity truck pull to be held Saturday
The Billy Tuggle memorial and benefit will be held Saturday at the Owen County Fairgrounds. A dead weight tractor pull will begin at noon and a truck tug at 7 p.m. Gate admission is $8. Kids 3 and under will be admitted for free.
Concessions will be provided by the Heritage Power Club.

Visoneers to share “Living the Dream”

A rookie and a veteran of the Kentucky General Assembly looked back at this year’s regular session.
At a meeting of the Owen County Chamber of Commerce Thursday, State Rep. Brian Linder, R-Dry Ridge, and State Sen. Damon Thayer, R-Georgetown, reflected on a session that will be memorable for each man.
Linder was entering his first year in the Kentucky House of Representatives after succeeding long-time Owen County representative Royce Adams, D-Dry Ridge, while Thayer became majority floor leader in the Kentucky State Senate.

The Owen County High School baseball team is on the wrong kind of roll.
From April 8 through April 23, the Rebels didn’t lose a game and won nine-straight contests.
Since then, they have dropped eight in a row.
Last week began with a trip to Walton-Verona to take on the Bearcats.
Despite scoring seven runs, Owen County still lost 13-7.
The seven runs are the most the team has scored and still lost during the current streak.

During the team banquet May 8, 12 members of this year’s varsity basketball team were recognized for their work off the court.
Teammates Nolan Tackett, Vince Toftness, Mason Borchers, Hunter Trenary, and Zach Ripy were honored for maintaining a cumulative GPA between 3.25-3.74 and were named 2012-13 KHSAA Honorable Mention Academic All-State.
Blaine Forsee, Chad McDonald, Carson Williams, Jarrod Ball, Trevor Lykins, Tucker Trenary, and Justin Shelton were named 2012-13 KHSAA First Team Academic All-State for maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher.
