Synthetic drugs sold at a local gas station recently stirred controversy on social media, leading to a discussion between Owenton Police Chief Terry Gentry and the Owenton City Council at its April 17 meeting.
The synthetic drugs began appearing at the Owenton Marathon Station, also known as Cowboys, at 105 S. Main St., over the past month. Items like synthetic cannabinoids, an alternative to marijuana, and UPass, a brand of synthetic urine that can allegedly be used to pass a drug test, are currently found on the shelves of the gas station.
