MBMS Soccer on field last week

By: BRIAN BLAIR
The Middle School soccer teams were in action last week.
The girls traveled to Lincoln County on April 29. The Lady Rebels had several scoring chances in the fist half but were unable to convert. Lincoln County scored a goal late in the first half to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. The beginning of the second half saw Lincoln County score another goal in the first two minutes to open up a 2-0 advantage. The home team was able to make the lead stand up.
The coed team took the field on Thursday night against Good Shepherd. Coach Haines said his team played well considering it was the first time all season both the boys and girls had played together. Good Shepherd won the game 5-1. Coach Haines credited Avery Gover, Alexis Ellis, Devon Jouett, Mattie Cook, Patrick Brumback and Will Dempsey for playing well.
The teams then played a second game to give some kids a chance to play that might not ordinarily get to. Bowling Middle School won this game 2-1. Ashley Byers and Victor Perez scored goals in the game. Coach Haines complimented Gabe Osborne, Dalton Mertz, Drew Smith, Scarlett Borchers and Nash Croley on their play.
The teams were in action on Tuesday at Paris before the girls returned home for a game tonight with Anderson County. Both teams will play Bondurant at home on Thursday night before traveling to Frankfort Christian Academy on Friday night. The teams will then take part in the Capital City Middle School Classic in Frankfort on Saturday.
