  • Letter to the editor: Hospice is a place of love and caring

    For the past 10 years I have been privileged to work as a community liaison physician with Hospice of the Bluegrass. I have been witness to the wonderful services they provide to our community. November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month.
    No one likes to think about death and dying, but Hospice is a resource available in our community to provide comfort, dignity and respect to families coping with a loved onea with a serious or life-ending illness.

    Editor’s Note: Veterans Day is an appropriate time for us to recall the sacrifices made by those serving and who had served in our armed forces. To mark this occasion, the Ernie Pyle World War II Museum in Dana, Indiana, and Scripps Howard Foundation have allowed us to reprint of Pyle’s most famous column “The Death of Capt. Waskow.” It’s a reminder to all of the ultimate sacrifice made by so many Americans to maintain the freedoms we enjoy.

  • Letter to the editor: Adkins will be a strong, pragmatic advocate for Owen County

    Owen countians face an interesting choice on the ballot this November in the race for their congressional representative. There are several pertinent facts they need to consider. First, there is no incumbent since the Republican Geoff Davis resigned so suddenly and mysteriously from his seat. Second, this race has seen a huge influx of outside influence, in the form of money from a Texas millionaire (through inheritance) and college student, John Ramsey and his Liberty For All PAC. The money went solely to support one fringe candidate in the Republican primary.

  • Letter to the editor: Former governor supports Crupper Hammons

    It was my honor and privilege to have served the citizens of this Commonwealth for some four decades; most recently as your U.S. Senator.
    I am proud to support the candidacy of Wanda Crupper Hammons for state representative in the 61st District. I have been acquainted with the Crupper family throughout my time in public service. Wanda has learned service from some good people. There are none better than Clay and Mary Crupper.

  • Letter to the editor: Wake up, pray up and get up to vote

    It was so encouraging to see the Rev. Billy Graham’s full page ad in the Wall Street Journal and USA Today this weekend. He will turn 94 on Nov. 7 and considers this election, “One of the most critical elections of his lifetime.” He encouraged all Americans to vote for candidates who support the Biblical definition of marriage between a man and a woman, protect the unborn and the sanctity of life and defend our religious freedoms.
