  • KARE Program Available to Owen Co Farmers

    KARE Program Available to Owen Co Farmers The Kentucky Agricultural Relief Effort (KARE) Cost-Share Program will soon be available for Owen Co. farmers. Applications will be available between August 7 and August 26 at the Owen Co Extension Office. The deadline for turning them in is Aug 26. The KARE program is a special state Phase I program that allowed for extra funds to be placed in each county for efforts to help farmers recover from last year’s drought.

  • New GI Bill

    After much haggling in Congress, it’s finally here: The newest incarnation of GI education benefits has been signed into law. The Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act replaces the Montgomery GI Bill and nearly doubles the dollar amount of benefits. This new benefits package guarantees full four-year (36 month) scholarships at any public state university for those who’ve served for three years since Sept. 11, 2001.
