These are a few of the names of families who lived on Two Mile in and around the 1930s.

The children gathered in New Liberty June 13 to celebrate their beginnings and to renew old acquaintances.

A history-making event, over 150 people were in attendance from several states including Michigan, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.

The event was spearheaded by Claude Garnett, whose parents and grandparents resided on Two Mile when he was a child.

George Gayle from Pleasant Home won second place in the “E” class of the main event held at Elk Creek Hunt Club last week.

The main event consisted of 200 clay-bird targets.

Gayle had a strong performance Friday, leading his class at the end of the day.

Saturday,  he was just one bird out of first place; and Sunday, he was six birds from the lead to take the second-place trophy.

Owen County Parks and Recreation sent four teams to the North Central Kentucky Baseball Alliance League Tournament Saturday. The four teams competed in three separate divisions. The Owen County Mudcats and Owen County Sidewinders played in the Cal Ripken 10-and-under division. The Owen County Rebels played in the Cal Ripken 12-and-under division while a second team called the Owen County Rebels played in the Babe Ruth Division for kids between 13 and 15.

The teams competed against other teams from Carroll, Gallatin, Trimble and Grant counties.

After several months of debate, the Owen County Fiscal Court passed an ordinance that makes it mandatory for property owners to pay fire department membership fees. The ordinance was passed during a special June 25 meeting.

When ordinance 156 was passed during the June 2008 fiscal court meeting, the court agreed that the ordinance would be reviewed annually.

Upon reviewing the ordinance this year, the court concluded that ordinance 156 was illegal because it gave property owners the option of not paying the fire department membership fees.
