    • Owen County High School defeated Carroll County High School 59-41 last year in Carrollton.
    • With the Rebels wins in 2011 and 2012, they have won back-to-back games in the series for the first time since 2000 and 2001.
    • OCHS Head Football Coach Adam Fowler is 3-2 all-time versus Carroll County.
    • Michael Weedman is in his seventh season as the Panthers’ head coach. In those seven seasons, he is 37-35 overall.

  • Sports briefs: Cross country and OCHS golf

    • The Owen County High School cross country teams ran at the Dragon Invitational on Saturday in Buckner. The meet was hosted by South Oldham High School. In the boys varsity race, Hunter Trenary finished fourth with a time of 16:18; Cory Hudnall finished 20th; Keith Stout, 30th; Logan Bitler, 33rd; and Kyle Flood, 34th.
    In the girls varsity race, it was Autumn Hunter finishing 22nd; Audrey Hager; 29th; and Samantha Tamplin, 31st.

  • Regular season winding down for volleyball team

    The Owen County High School volleyball team played a pair of tight matches last week. They won the first and dropped the second.
    The team’s opening match of the week came at Heritage Academy on Oct. 8.
    The Lady Rebels played the Eagles twice last season winning both matches with little trouble. After winning the first two sets on Oct. 8 25-18 and 25-20, Owen County was forced to play a fourth set after Heritage won the third 25-23.
    The Lady Rebels would wrap up the match in the fourth set by winning 25-20.

  • Soccer teams finish regular season

    The regular season is over for the Owen County High School soccer teams.
    With two games at home, the boys team wrapped up its regular season.
    On Oct. 8, the team hosted Walton-Verona High School.
    The two teams met earlier in the year in the Eighth Region All ‘A’ Classic championship game. The Bearcats won that game 7-0.
    The result last week was not all that different as Walton-Verona would prevail 6-0. On Oct. 10,  the Rebels welcomed Villa Madonna to Patterson Field where the two teams would play to a 0-0 tie.

  • Homecoming heroes

    It was a night for celebrating at Patterson Field on Friday.
    Before the game, Krissy Swigert was named 2013 Owen County High School Football Homecoming Queen.
    At halftime, Owen County honored the first Rebel football team from 1963 and rededicated Guy Patterson Field.
    The evening wrapped up by celebrating an Owen County win.
    After falling behind 6-0 in the first quarter, the Rebels’ defense held Trimble County High School scoreless the rest of the night.
