  • Wedding: Wash-Fitzgerald

    The families of Andrea Layne Wash and Jared Wayne Fitzgerald would like to extend an invitation to share in their children’s joy and celebration of marriage. The couple will be married at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, at First Baptist Church in Owenton. The reception will be hosted in the family life center immediately following the ceremony. All friends and family are welcome.
    Formal invitations are being sent to out of town guests only.

    Beginning June 5, HealthPoint Owenton will be expanding its hours to increase the community’s access and opportunities to receive affordable healthcare.
    The new expanded hours for HealthPoint Owenton will be 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m., Monday-Friday; 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday and 1 p.m.-4 p.m., Sunday.

    Our youth are collecting new or gently used shoes for a camp fundraiser/mission project.

  • Karsner airplane hangar pending demolition

    For more than 70 years a four-plane airplane hangar near Monterey has carried a message that one local family calls a “shining inspiration.”
    The message — “Christ is the Answer” — is that of Harry Clark Karsner, who, following World War II, constructed the hangar on his farm near Old Cedar Baptist Church.

    Anticipation filled the air over Patterson Field Friday as Owen County Elementary School students looked to the sky in search of their special guest.
    That special guest was none other than principal Sharen Hubbard, who was flown onto the field in a helicopter.
    The cause? A celebration in honor of national recognition.
