Fifth graders lend a hand to Owen County alumni chasing an Olympic dream

If you ever wonder how your actions can affect other people, walk down to Carol Wooten’s class at Maurice Bowling Middle School.
The students who make up her class get positively giddy when one name comes up for discussion.
    Adam Clark.
It’s not often that a child/s hero comes from their own hometown but that’s how Wooten’s students describe the Owen County High alum.

A lesson in giving: students work to make sure others have a merry Christmas

A lesson better than anything out of a textbook is what one of Owen County’s third grade teachers has been sharing with her students for over a decade.
Owen County Elementary school teacher Mary Inman began the “caring project” with her students when she began teaching 12 years ago, a tradition that she has continued watch holiday season and one that she says her students are always happy to get behind.
