    With several events taking place in and around Owen County this summer, some Owen countians have come together to ensure that when a visitor enters the county, they know just where they are.

    Owen County Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences Judy Hetterman, along with others, have been designing signs to place at different entrances to the county.

    The Owen County grand jury met July 12 and handed down the following indictments.

    Denver B. Stafford, 24, on the charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, fourth-degree assault and possession of marijuana.

    New field house on the horizon for Owen Co.

    Two construction projects are currently in the works for the Owen County Board of Education.

    The board met July 21 when architects for the upper-elementary school, RossTarrant Architects, discussed renovations to the old middle school and new field house.

    Owen County Schools Superintendent David Raleigh said a $500,000 building-fund has been designated for the field house.
