Rain may have slowed the city’s sidewalk repairs down, but Owenton Mayor Doug West said the work is expected to be finished this week.
Approximately 100 yards of repairs to city sidewalks were completed in 2012, including the area around the Owen County Courthouse.
The Owenton City Council approved for another round of concrete work to be completed this spring.
West said about 70 yards will be completed, including the sidewalk at the corner of Seminary and Main Street and a crosswalk for pedestrians near Itron.

Budding and established artists, craftsmen and musicians will showcase their talents this Saturday at the annual Sweet Owen Arts in the Park at the Owen County Park and Fairgrounds.
The event features student art along with demonstrations of different forms of arts and crafts along with music and food.
Owen County Arts Council event organizer Patty Petzinger said the group is excited by this year’s event.

Keegan B. Johnson, representing the John Guill Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, received the Kentucky Society Daughters of the American Revolution’s Fifth District DAR Good Citizen Award at the 117th KSDAR State Conference,
The youth awards ceremony was held on April 6 at the Hilton Lexington/Downtown Hotel in Lexington. The award was presented by Jessieanne Wells, KSDAR State Regent.

Wolfe Greene of Sparta, has graduated from the University of Evansville with the degree of bachelor of science.
Greene, majoring in physics and mathematics, graduated during UE’s 155th Commencement, held May 4 at the Ford Center in downtown Evansville. During the ceremony, the University awarded 595 degrees to 579 graduates – the largest graduating class in over a decade.
