In March, the Owen County Fiscal Court approved a 3-percent transient room tax (lodging tax). Owen countians could soon see the effects of the tax placed on those traveling through the county.
According to the lodging tax ordinance, it includes motor courts, motels, hotels, inns or similar accommodations. The ordinance also includes campgrounds.
The fiscal court recently approved the appointment of seven local citizens to a tourism commission, which was required by the ordinance.
