One Owenton man is dead and another has been arrested after an alleged DUI-related crash Wednesday.
Kentucky State Police Post 5 Public Affairs Officer Bradley Arterburn said KSP troopers responded to the crash at 6:59 a.m. The incident occurred several hours earlier but was not called in until another driver saw the vehicle, police said.
The driver, Lamonte Richardson, 55, was traveling east on Frank Clark Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, police said in a statement.
The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

This year’s theme for the 2012 Rotary Speech Contest was “Reach Within to Embrace Humanity.”  Contestants learned about Rotary and its mission.  Winners at the local level were OCHS students Robert Beverly (first place with a  $300 prize), Rachel Dauwe (second place with $200 prize) and James Thompson (third prize with $100 prize)

Amanda Cook, a Western Kentucky University student from Owenton, was awarded the Outstanding Senior in Chemical Education Award from the Department of Chemistry at the WKU Ogden College of Science and Engineering Student Awards Ceremony on April 22 at the Carroll Knicely Conference Center in Bowling Green. Cook is pictured with Dr. Lester Pesterfield, professor from the Department of Chemistry at WKU, Cook has served as the president of the Southern Kentucky Teach Student Organization for the last two years.
