Compared to the previous sale, slaughter cows were $1 to $3 lower; slaughter bulls $2 lower; and feeder steers and feeder heifers $1 to $4 lower. Slaughter cows were 8 percent of the supply; slaughter bulls 1 percent; replacement cows 2 percent; and feeders 89 percent. The feeder supply included 38-percent steers, 34-percent heifers, and 15-percent feeder bulls. Twenty-nine percent of the supply weighed over 600 lb.

Shannon Steed, the daughter of Jackie and Becky Ogden, recently completed radiology residency at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Steed is a 1993 graduate of Owen County High School. She completed her undergraduate studies at Northern Kentucky University and completed medical school at the University of Louisville School of Medicine.
She is currently doing a one-year fellowship in breast imaging at Indiana University.
Steed currently lives in Indianapolis, Ind., and is married to Brian Steed. The two have three children, Quinn, Grant and Laine.

Compared to the previous week’s light supplies, slaughter cows and slaughter bulls were $1 to $3 higher; feeder steers under 600 lb. were $1 to $3 lower, over 600 lb. $2 to $3 higher; and feeder heifers were $3 to $5 higher, except 500-600 lb. were $1 to $3 lower.
Slaughter cows were 9 percent of the supply; slaughter bulls 2 percent; replacement cows 2 percent; and feeders 87 percent. The feeder supply included 32-percent steers, 38-percent heifers, and 12-percent feeder bulls. Fifty-two percent of the supply weighed over 600 lb.

Owen County farmers will soon be able to pick up applications for the new Phase I cost-share program.
The program applications will be available for pick-up at the extension office Monday. The deadline for completing the applications and turning them in is Sept. 9.
