    Board of education meeting to be held at MBMS

    The regular meeting of the Owen County Board of Education will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, April 18, in the Maurice Bowling Middle School media center.

    The Owen County High School Project Graduation will host a 5K run/walk at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 23. at OCHS. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. For more information call Darlene Matt at 859-308-9731.

    Consider adding another physical routine to your exercise schedule with Tai Chi, led by instructor Joe Schmidt. Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese mind-body exercise that can improve flexibility, strength, balance and mobility. Breathing and a careful focus on body movements are the cornerstones of the exercise. The course will last four weeks and is suitable for anyone, beginners or experts.

    Puppets on Parade

    Let’s put on a puppet show! Participants will read the scripts and handle the puppets, beginning at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30.

    Community Easter Egg hunt will be Saturday

    A community Easter egg hunt will be held Saturday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Owen County Fairgrounds. The hunt will begin at noon. The egg hunt, games, inflatables and prizes will be free of charge. Pictures with the Easter Bunny and tie-dyeing with Uniquely Twisted tie-dyeing will be held with charge. Rick Wilhoite will be set up grilling and Girl Scout cookies will also be sold.

    Commonwealth Cleanup Week is March 19-26

    The Owen County Fiscal Court, in conjunction with the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet, will observe Commonwealth Cleanup Week March 19-26. Residents may bring their unwanted items to the Owen County Transfer Station for disposal free of charge, with the exception of household garbage and no more than four passenger tires.

    This week also starts our annual litter abatement program, where non-profit groups can raise funds picking up roadside litter. For more information, call 484-2427.
