    Commonwealth Cleanup Week is March 19-26

    The Owen County Fiscal Court, in conjunction with the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet, will observe Commonwealth Cleanup Week March 19-26. Residents may bring their unwanted items to the Owen County Transfer Station for disposal free of charge, with the exception of household garbage and no more than four passenger tires.

    This week also starts our annual litter abatement program, where non-profit groups can raise funds picking up roadside litter. For more information, call 484-2427.

    Friendly Market Field Trip

    Join us for a field trip from the library to the Friendly Market in northern Kentucky today (Wednesday). The proprietors of the business there will be on hand to share their knowledge of spices, fine olive oils, meats and teas with us. Lunch will be served by Yesterday’s Tea House at your expense. Ride with us in the library van or carpool with friends, but call 484-3450 to make a reservation so they know how many of us to expect. We will leave the library at 10:30 a.m. and be back by 3 p.m.

    There will be a meeting at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 6, at the Gratz Community Center to continue planning for an Arts and River event on June 11. All interested parties are welcome to attend.

    We are celebrating the birthday of Dr. Seuss at the library. Drop in anytime between Feb. 24-26 for rotating crafts activities, Suess style. Help us celebrate one of our most favorite children’s authors.
