    November and December are Amnesty Months. This year we are going to do things a bit differently though.
    Food for Fines will run Nov. 1-Dec. 31. For each items donated, we will waive $1 in fines. If you have $10 in fines and you bring in 10 items, we will waive all of your fines. The food donated will be given to Meeting the Needs. The food must be non-perishable and can’t be expired.

    We are celebrating all things Poe this month as part of our Big Read grant. Stop in to get your free Poe book and be sure to join us for some of the really cool stuff we have happening this month to celebrate one of America’s most celebrated writers.
    This week’s suggestion for a mini adventure in the library, adventure #13: Come use our photo copier to make copies of your hand, funny book titles, weird images or something interesting you found on the internet. Got a kid and an hour? You have time for an adventure.

  • Raptor Rehab returns to library

    Raptor Rehab is coming back to the Owen County Public Library at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 15.
    The Big Read continues with a visit from some of the rescued birds from Raptor Rehab out of Louisville, Kentucky. Dedicated to the rehabilitation of sick, injured and orphaned birds of prey, Raptor Rehab takes in between 250-300 birds and releases over 60% back into the wild each year.
    Several birds will be on hand for an up close look.

    Camp MBMS to be held Aug. 6
    All incoming fifth grade students are invited and encouraged to attend Camp MBMS from 5-7 p.m., Aug. 6. Registration forms can be found on the Owen County School website and if you have questions please contact Becky Mefford at (502) 484-4017. Parents are encouraged to attend with their students and there will be activities planned for both students are parents. Refreshments will be served.

    Montessori school to hold community informational meeting on Wednesday
    Owen County Montessori School is holding a community informational gathering from 6-8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Owen County Extension Office.  
    All those interested in learning more about Montessori education and our school plans are encouraged to attend. There will be a presentation by Xavier University’s Montessori Lab School Assistant Dean and Head of School.

    A fall festival will be held at Owenton First Baptist Church Family Life Center from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 24.
