    Holiday Trimmings Workshop set for Thursday

    Looking for new ideas in holiday decorations, gifts and food? Plan to attend the Holiday Trimmings Workshop at the Owen County Extension Office, at 1:30 p.m. or 7 p.m., Thursday. The cost is $5. You will get to sample some of the holiday foods and receive a book with all of the craft ideas with instructions and recipes.

  • Santa Claus is coming to town! Annual Christmas parade set for Dec. 3

    Santa Claus will soon make his annual trip through Owenton, at 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 3, during the Owen County Christmas Parade.
    The theme for this year’s parade is “Mayberry Christmas.” There will be three categories for floats: Wagon/trailer (first-place prize, $200; second-place prize, $150), truck bed (first-place prize, $100; second-place prize, $50) and utility vehicles (first place prize, $75; second-place prize, $50).

    New Columbus Baptist set to host Holiday Craft Bazaar

    The New Columbus Baptist Church WMU and the Crafters Group will host a Holiday Craft Bazaar and Bake Sale from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday, in the fellowship hall of New Columbus Baptist Church, Corinth. The proceeds are slated for the support of the church youth camp fund. This event can be a great time to do some Christmas shopping and get baked goodies at the same time.

    OCHS holding open house

    Owen County High School will host an open house and book fair from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 26.

    Poplar Grove Baptist fall festival set for Oct. 28

    Poplar Grove Baptist Church will be having a fall festival at 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 28, in our lower building/fellowship hall.
    Come enjoy soup, chili, sandwiches, desserts, candy, a cake walk and giveaways. All are welcome.

  • Students participate in See You at the Pole

    Owen County High School participated in See You at the Pole, the global day of student prayer, Wednesday, Sept. 27.  
    See You at the Pole is simply a prayer rally where students meet at the school flagpole before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school and nation to God. See You at the Pole is a student-initiated, student-organized and student-led event. The 2017 theme is “Fix Our Eyes.” The theme verse is Hebrews 12:2, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.

  • OCHS announces September Teacher and Member of the Month

    Owen County High School recently announced its September Teacher of the Month, Mrs. Megan Hearn, and its September Member of the Month, Mrs. Jennifer Power.
    Hearn teaches freshman mathematics at OCHS and is very involved with the freshman and senior classes, as well as each year’s homecoming festivities.

  • Power House headed for Super Bowl

    The Owen County Parks and Rec League Power House team is headed to the Super Bowl. The team members have been to the Super Bowl a total of three times together, this will be their fourth trip. The team won the Super Bowl championships in 2015 and 2016 as Mighty Pros. They are 4-2 in pre-playoff and 6-2 after the playoffs. They will head to Grant County Saturday to face Pendleton County in the Super Bowl at 4:30 p.m., at the Grant County High School field. The team is coached by Chris Dempsey (head coach), Chad Carter, Randy Robinson, Josh Mason, Sylis Logsdon and Brian Hawkins.
