    The month of September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. There are two primary goals for this month. The first goal is to promote awareness around the issues of suicide. The second goal is to educate about suicide prevention.

    The FCC Community Food Pantry, 217 W. Seminary St., will be open from 10 a.m.-noon, Wednesday, Aug. 16 and Saturday, Aug. 19.

  • Parker receives national honor

    The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) announced Owen County High School student Kaitlyn Carol Parker has been selected to become a member of the esteemed organization. The Society recognizes top scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship and community commitment. The announcement was made by NSHSS Founder and Chairman Claes Nobel, senior member of the family that established the Nobel Prizes.

    Mike Haines served as our March 6 speaker. Mike provided information on the Alumni Association project. They are looking to raise money for dual credit for students. Right now, 80 kids are enrolled in the program at Owen County High School. They are having a challenge that the graduation class that raises the most money will be recognized.
    On March 13 we had our St. Patrick and membership dinner with 50 individuals present. We had several new members present.
