  • Mae Magline “Tag” King

    Mae Magline “Tag” King, 64, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.
    She was the daughter of the late Burchell and Elizabeth Taylor Wagers.
    Survivors include her husband, Horace King of Lexington; two sons, Phillip Hamilton of Carrollton and Thomas King of Owenton; and two daughters, Martha J. wagers of Owenton and Christina King of Lexington.
    The family received friends at the Main Street location of McDonald and New Funeral Homes July 27.

  • William Adams

    William Howard Adams, 85, of Owenton passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at his home.
    He was the son of the late Joseph Andrew and Mary Liza Huff Adams.
    Survivors include his wife, Hannah Johnson Adams; and his children, Mary Elizabeth (Charles) Catron of Stamping Ground, Bonnie Marie Glass, Joan Gayle (Terry) Kincaid, Patsy Ann Marshall all of Owenton and William Ray (Lynn) Adams of New Castle.
    The funeral services were held Saturday, July 21 at the Main Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Homes.  Burial was in the Stamping Ground Cemetery.

  • Floyd Mikel Smith

    Floyd Mikel Smith, 17, of Owenton, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012.
    He was the son of Floyd Smith (Crystal Goodrich) of Owenton and Kim Williams Smith of Owenton.
    He was going to be a senior at the Owen County High School this year. He was employed at McDonalds.
    He is also survived by his brothers, Jacob and Phyllip Smith; his sisters, Melinda and Autumn Smith; his grandparents. Danny and Linda Williams of Owenton and Donald Arnold of Lockport; and his great-grandmother, Lenora Kelly Olds of Owenton.

  • Dallas L. York

    Dallas L. York, 66, of Sanders, passed away Monday, July 9, 2012, at his home.
    He is survived by his wife, Evalina; daughters, April and Christy York; and his stepchildren, Richard Hardesty and Candy Gibson
    The funeral services were held Thursday, July 12, 2012, at the Seminary Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Homes

  • Thomas L. McDonald

    Thomas L. McDonald, 76, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012, at his home.
    Born April 1936, He was the son of the late Vernon and Christine Luther McDonald. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles McDonald.
    Tommy began his funeral career with the former Kemper and Arnold Funeral Home which later became Owen Funeral Service. In 1985, he purchased both funeral homes and changed the name to McDonald Funeral Homes.

  • Doris Clark Kemper

    Doris Clark Kemper, 94, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2012, at the Owenton Manor.
    Born Feb. 6, 1918, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Herbet and Eula Cobb Smith. She was the widow of Josh Kemper and was preceded in death by her siblings, Howard C. Smith, Mary L. Brooking, Jean Rosselot, Ruth Glass and June Lindsay Smith. Doris was a graduate of Georgetown Gollege and a member of the Lusby’s Mill Baptist Church were she was a former pianist. She was a retired school teacher, having taught over 60 years for the Owen County School System.

  • Andrea “Andy” Clark Jacobs

    Andrea “Andy” Clark Jacobs, 66, the wife of David R. Jacobs, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012. 
    She was born Jan. 4, 1946 in Lexington, the daughter of the late James Otis and Dorothy Helen (Thomason) Clark.

  • Robert Lee Franklin

    Dr. Robert Lee “Bob” Franklin Jr., 78, of Macon, Ga., passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012.
    Survivors include his wife, Louise Hunter Franklin; and three sons, Dr. Lee (Michelle) Franklin of Montgomery, Ala., the Rev. David (Dana) Franklin of Taylorsville, Ga., and Dr. John (Kathy) Franklin of Russellville.
    The funeral services were held Saturday, July 14, 2012, at the First Baptist Church of Montgomery, Ala. Burial was in the Chalkville First Baptist Church Cemetery in Center Point, Ala.

  • Hilda Brown

    Hilda M. Brown, 85, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012, in LaGrange.
    Survivors include her two sons, Terry and Dana Brown; and one daughter, Vickie Gaither.
    A graveside service was held Friday, July 13, 2012, at the English Cemetery in Carrollton.
    The Graham-Dunn Funeral Home of Carrollton was in charge of all arrangements.

  • Betty Young

    Betty Ballard Young, 83, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
    A native of Owen County, she was born Jan. 19, 1929, to George Washington and Lela McDonald Ballard. Ms. Young retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky after 35 years of service. She was an administrative assistant in various cabinets, the last three of which were Revenue, Transportation and Labor. She was a former member of O.E.S. Eastern Star Hiram #93.
