  • Robert “Bob” Mason

    Robert “Bob” Mason, 68,   died  Dec. 20 at St. Joseph Hospice Care Center in Lexington.

    He was the son of the late Winfred and Frances (Poteet) Mason. He was born in Owen County Nov. 16, 1940. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Leslye Ann (Mason) Robertson; and a brother, Phillip Wayne Mason. 

  • Mike Marshall

    Mike Marshall, 65, of Lockport, died Dec. 19, 2008, at his residence. 

    He was born in Lancaster,  son of the late William Anderson Marshall and Annadell Ray Marshall.  He was an electrical engineer for Kentucky Utilities in Lexington and a veteran of the United States Army.

  • Leon Smith Jr.

    Leon Smith Jr., 59, of Lockport died Dec. 7, 2008, at Baptist Hospital Northeast. 

     

    Born April 12, 1949, in Henry County, he was the son of the late Leon and Stella Bea Rogers Smith and was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Henry Smith.

    He is survived by two brothers, Richard Allen Smith of New Castle and Chester Smith of Lockport; and a sister, Louise True of Lakeland, Fla.

  • Beuna Kinmon

    Beuna Kinmon, 88, of Owenton, died Dec. 4, 2008, at St. Luke Hospital, East in Ft. Thomas.

     

    Born Aug. 7, 1920, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late James and Bessie Stafford O’Banion and was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert “Hoot” Kinmon, and her brother, Woodrow S. O’Banion. Beuna was retired from Georgetown Cable Products and was a member of the Lusby’s Mill Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School and Bible School teacher for many years. She was an active leader in the 4-H Sewing Club and Homemakers Club.

  • Ceazor Combs

    Ceazor Combs, 78, of Willisburg and formerly of Owenton, died Nov. 30, 2008, at his home.

    Born Oct. 25, 1930, in Hazard, he was the son of the late Preston and Ida Duff Combs. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Herschel Combs Sr., Ernest Combs, Ethel Lynn and Ollie Sue Perry. Ceazor was a member of the Grapevine Christian Church and was a retired farmer having worked at the UK Test Farm at Eden Shale.

  • Lenny Gene Marksberry

    Lenny Gene Marksberry, 57, of Owenton, died Nov. 30, 2008, at his home following a long illness.

    Born Sept. 10, 1951, in Kenton County, he was the son of the late Leonard and Margaret Freeman Marksberry. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Marlana Marksberry and Janie Baird.

    Lenny was retired from Jim Beam Distillery.

  • David Thomas Perkins

    David Thomas Perkins, 78, of Owenton, died Nov. 20, 2008, at Central Baptist Hospital.

    Born Dec. 8, 1929, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Thurman and Frances Stewart Perkins. He was also preceded in death by his son, Glenn David Perkins; and his brother, Paul Perkins. David was a carpenter, a farmer and a member of the Pentecostal faith.

  • John Will Ruth

    John Will Ruth, 77, of Owenton, died Nov. 22, 2008 at New Horizons Medical Center.

    Born Oct. 26, 1931, in Owen County, he was the son of the late John Ruth Sr. and Beulah Hunter Ruth. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Ruth.

    He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Leticia Tackett Ruth; three sons, Steven Ruth of Elkhorn City, Mitchell Ruth of Demossville and John Will Ruth, III of Lexington; his stepdaughter, Sandra Lynn Whittaker of Maryland; his sister Jenna Louise Cole of Lexington; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

  • Thurman L. Noel

    Thurman L. Noel, 85, of Warsaw died Nov. 19, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood. Born June 24, 1923, he was the son of the late John David and Mae Poland Noel.

    He married his wife of 60 years, Mary Tuttle Noel, Sept. 18, 1948. Mr. Noel served in the Navy during WWII, and was a retired factory worker and self-employed farmer.

    He is survived by his wife, Mary Noel; a daughter, Addie Mae Caldwell; three sons, David, Calvin and Jeffrey Noel; a brother, Denton Noel; a sister, Alma Barnes; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

  • Viola Smith Lee

    Viola Smith Lee, 101, of Corinth, died Nov. 22, 2008, at Dover Manor Nursing Home in Georgetown. She was the widow of Walter Beckham Lee who died in 1986.

    She is survived by a son, Omer Bradford Lee of Sadieville; a sister, Naomi Shivers of New Columbus; a brother, Ernest Smith of Georgetown; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
