  • Donald Hughes Sr.

    Donald Hughes Sr., 63, of Owenton, died Feb. 13, 2009, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. He was an electrician for David Glass Electrical and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Pentecostal faith.

    He is survived by a daughter, Melinda Sue Turner of Georgetown; two sons, Donald Lee Hughes Jr. of Georgetown and William Patrick Hughes of Owenton; a sister, Patricia James of Paris; a brother, Bill Hughes of Georgetown; and six grandchildren.

  • Harold Glenn Barnes

    Harold Glenn Barnes, 62, of Owenton, died Feb. 13, 2009, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. Born Jan. 20, 1947, in Wolfe County, he was the son of the late Garrett and Dorothy Bronson Barnes. He was a truck driver, an Army veteran and a member of Corinth Baptist Church. He was very active in the Odd Fellows Emmanuel Lodge #213 and the Owen Masonic #128 F&AM, where he was a past Grand Master and served as past District Deputy Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge.

  • Estella Louise Johnson

    Estella Louise Johnson, 66, of Lexington, died Feb. 11, 2009, at the home of her granddaughter in Lexington.

    Born July 20, 1942, in Louisville, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Margaret Johnson Brent. She was a homemaker and member of Park Ridge Baptist Church.

  • Beatrice Hackett

    Beatrice Hackett, 80, of Lockport, died Feb. 9, 2009, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

    Born Feb. 5, 1929, in Henry County, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Bernice Aynes Craven, and the widow of Bernard Hackett.

    She is survived by her son, Michael Hackett of Lockport; her two daughters, Janeie Hackett-Smith and her husband Larry of Gratz, and Phoebe Hackett of Lockport; and her sister, Claircee Kemper of Pleasureville. 

    Her family held a private memorial service.

  • Eva Joyce Green

    Eva Joyce Green, 82, died Jan. 17, 2009, in Lexington.

    Born June 9, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Mary (Musselman) Bowman and the widow of Estel Green.

    Eva served as manager of Maple Grove Estates and was a member of West End Baptist Church.

  • William R. Greene

    William R. “Doc” Greene, DVM, 87, of Owenton, died Feb. 8, 2009, at the Owenton Manor.

    Born March 23, 1921, in Owen County, he was the son of the late R.N. and Gypsy Sidebottom Green and the widower of Lois Jean Greene. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James R. Greene, M.D.; and his sister, Betty Lou Greene Knipper.

  • James Wainscott

    James Edward ”Jimmy”  Wainscott, 79, of Owenton, passed away Feb. 4, 2009, at Owenton Manor.

    Born Aug. 19, 1929, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Vernie and Laura Hughes Wainscott and was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Wainscott. 

    James was a farmer and hauled water for 34 years.  He was a member of El Bethel Christian Church. 

  • John Porter Duvall

    John Porter Duvall, 86, of Covington, died Feb. 9, 2009.

    Born Feb. 7, 1923, he was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas and Lula Parker Duvall;  his former wife, Dorothy Rinschler; two brothers, Morris and Elmo Duvall; two sisters, Grace Stonestreet and Sybil Lusby; a granddaughter, Christy Sanford; and a step-daughter, Barbara Sanford.

    John served  in the Air Force and Navy. He worked as a contractor and cab driver.

  • Henry Wright

    Henry Wright, 71, of Dry Ridge, died Jan. 5, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.

    He was a farmer and owner and operator of Wright’s Stables in Dry Ridge. He was a member of the New Columbus Baptist Church.

    He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Ann Wright; a sister, Frances Alexander; and three brothers, Delbert, Dave, and Bobby Wright.

  • William Wells House

    William Wells “Billy” House, 47, of Lusby’s Mill, passed away Jan. 29, 2009, at his residence.

    Born March 9, 1961, in Scott County, he was the son of the late Loretta Devers House. Billy was a construction worker and a member of Harmony Baptist Church.
