  • Zula B. Smith

    Zula B. Smith, 100, passed away Sunday Oct. 14, 2012
    Survivors include her two sons, Eugene and wife Dorothy Smith and Freeman and wife Tilda Smith.
    The family will receive friends Thursday Oct. 18, 2012,  at 11 a.m. with the funeral services  at 2 p.m. at the Main Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Burial will follow in Owenton Cemetery.

  • Justin Lee Renfro

    Justin Lee Renfro, 24, of Owenton, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
    Surviving are his parents, Darwin “Red” Renfro and Nita Hammond Renfro; and his children, Adriana Lee and Hayden Allen Renfro.
    The funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at the Main Street location of the McDonald & New Funeral Homes.

  • Drew Tyler Mason

    Drew Tyler Mason, 26, of Owenton, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center from injuries received in an auto accident.
    Surviving are his parents, Rodney (April) Mason and Luci (Steve) Bishop Grubb; his brothers, Michael Grubb and Ryan Mason; and his sisters, Lindsey Grubb and Andrea Mason.
    The funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at the Seminary Street location of the McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Burial was in the Owenton Cemetery.

  • Diana “Marlene” Mason

    Diana “Marlene” Mason, 65, of New Liberty, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
    She was the daughter of the late Willie and Alice Parker Poe.
    Survivors include her husband, Delbert Mason; her son, William Souder of Carnesville Ga.; her daughter, Alicia (Tim) Roach of Commerce Ga.; and her stepsons, Ricky, Rodney and Randy Mason.

    “C.B.” Marston, 93, of Owenton passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at his residence.

  • Rosie King

    Rosie J. King, 68, passed away Monday Oct. 15, 2012, in Lexington.
    She is survived by her son Bobby (Kim) King of Sparta; three brothers, Ronnie, Donnie and James King; and two sisters, Dorothy Courtney and Mary Bladen.
    The family will receive friends Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, starting at 11 a.m. at the Main Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Homes. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m.
    McDonald & New Funeral Homes is in charge of all arrangements.

  • Rita Craigmyle

    Rita Lou Ogburn Craigmyle, 70, of Owenton, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at the Baptist East Hospital in Louisville.
    Born Feb. 15, 1942, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Sabbath Roberts Ogburn.
    Rita was the owner of Rita’s Furniture and was a member of the Family Worship Center in Carrollton.
    Surviving are her husband, F.D. Craigmyle of Owenton; her son, Monty Craigmyle of Owenton; her brother, Rodney (Addie) Ogburn of Carrollton; her sisters, Pat (Johnny) Craigmyle of Sparta and Debra (Harry) Perry of Carrollton.

  • Peggy Ann Wade

    Peggy Ann Wade, 83, of Lexington, passed away Thursday, Oct. 6, 2012, at the Saint Joseph Hospital.
    She was the daughter of the late Vincent and Flora Ballard Johnson.
    Survivors include three sons, Vince Edwards of Mandeville, La., James Edwards of Naples, Fla. and Todd Wade of Lexington; and her daughter, Mary (Paul) Rawlings of Midway.
    The funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at the Main Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Homes.   Burial was in the Monterey Cemetery.

  • Hubert “Henry” Hammond

    Hubert “Henry” Hammond, 93, of Owenton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at the Mercy at Westpoint Care Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
    He was the son of the late Jimmy D. and Hattie Belle Jones Hammond.
    He was the widower of Thelma Ayres Hammond.
    Survivors include his son, Gregory Hammond of Arizona; and his daughters, Beverly Kaye (Roger) Maloney, Shirley (Hugh) Frost, both of Cincinnati, Ohio and Judy (Wallace) Traylor of Memphis, Tenn.

    Bernard Zakem, 85, passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at the Sam Swope Care Center.  
    Survivors include his wife, Ruby Schwartz Zakem and a son, Marc (Ann).
    The funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012 at Herman Meyer & Son, 1338 Ellison Avenue in Louisville with burial in The Temple Cemetery.
