  • Rita Craigmyle

    Rita Lou Ogburn Craigmyle, 70, of Owenton, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at the Baptist East Hospital in Louisville.
    Born Feb. 15, 1942, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Sabbath Roberts Ogburn.
    Rita was the owner of Rita’s Furniture and was a member of the Family Worship Center in Carrollton.
    Surviving are her husband, F.D. Craigmyle of Owenton; her son, Monty Craigmyle of Owenton; her brother, Rodney (Addie) Ogburn of Carrollton; her sisters, Pat (Johnny) Craigmyle of Sparta and Debra (Harry) Perry of Carrollton.

  • Peggy Ann Wade

    Peggy Ann Wade, 83, of Lexington, passed away Thursday, Oct. 6, 2012, at the Saint Joseph Hospital.
    She was the daughter of the late Vincent and Flora Ballard Johnson.
    Survivors include three sons, Vince Edwards of Mandeville, La., James Edwards of Naples, Fla. and Todd Wade of Lexington; and her daughter, Mary (Paul) Rawlings of Midway.
    The funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at the Main Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Homes.   Burial was in the Monterey Cemetery.

  • Hubert “Henry” Hammond

    Hubert “Henry” Hammond, 93, of Owenton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at the Mercy at Westpoint Care Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
    He was the son of the late Jimmy D. and Hattie Belle Jones Hammond.
    He was the widower of Thelma Ayres Hammond.
    Survivors include his son, Gregory Hammond of Arizona; and his daughters, Beverly Kaye (Roger) Maloney, Shirley (Hugh) Frost, both of Cincinnati, Ohio and Judy (Wallace) Traylor of Memphis, Tenn.

  • Bernard Zakem

    Bernard Zakem, 85, passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at the Sam Swope Care Center.  
    Survivors include his wife, Ruby Schwartz Zakem and a son, Marc (Ann).
    The funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012 at Herman Meyer & Son, 1338 Ellison Avenue in Louisville with burial in The Temple Cemetery.

    Jenna Louise Ruth Cole, 82, of Lexington, wife of Robert B. Cole, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at her home.
    She was born in Owen County to the late John Will Ruth and Beulah Mae Towles Hunter.
    Including her husband, she is survived by two sons, Ronald G. (Pamela) Hudson and Robert B. (Teresa) Cole II; a daughter, Julie Cole (Brad) Wilson; six grandchildren, Brian D. Hudson, Robyn R. Hudson, Lauren A. Wilson, Victoria E. Wilson, Nicholas A.C. Wilson and Evan B. Cole; three great-grandchildren, Alyson and Taylor Moberly and Drew Hudson.

  • Doris Dey Lusby Bourne

    Doris Dey Lusby Bourne, 95, of Owenton passed away Sept. 23, 2012, at the Baptist Hospital East in Louisville.
    She was the daughter of the late William David Lusby, Sr. and Hallie B. Wilhoite Lusby.
    She was the wife of the late Raymond “Ray” Joseph Bourne.
    Survivors include her sons, Daniel Joseph Bourne of Lexington and Herschel R. Bourne of LaGrange; and her daughters, Gay Snider, of Finchville, Gerry Ennis of Bagdad, and Marcia Kern of Shelbyville.

  • Gerald Alexander

    Gerald Alexander, 58, a resident of Owen County, passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012.
    Born December of 1953, he was the son of Evelyn Young Alexander, surviving, and the late Stonewall Jackson “Stoney” Alexander.
    Gerald was currently employed by the Itron Company in Owenton.

    Born December of 1953, he was the son of Evelyn Young Alexander, surviving, and the late Stonewall Jackson “Stoney” Alexander.

  • Georgia Mae Tolliver

    Georgia Mae Tolliver, 74, of Sparta, passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at the St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood.
    She was the daughter of the late Dan and Flora Belle Jones Washington and the widow of Joe Tolliver Jr.
    Survivors include her son Maurice (Felicia) Tolliver of Union.
    The funeral service and visitation were held Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at the Owenton Second Baptist Church. Burial was in the Park Ridge Cemetery.
    McDonald and New Funeral Homes was in charge of all arrangements.

  • Martha Palmer Shandrick

    Martha Palmer Shandrick, 90, of Owenton, departed this life to spend eternity in Heaven on Aug. 30, 2012.
    She was the daughter of E.H. and Ella Meade Sahmburger Palmer. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Shandrick; a brother, Harry Palmer; and a sister, Lyda Palmer.
    She is survived by her daughter Vicki (Bill) Turner; two granddaughters, Heidi Williams (Rusty) and Hilari Gentry (Terry); and four great-grandchildren, Kelsey Williams, Sawyer Williams, Carson Williams and Griffin Gentry.
