  • Robert C. Haydon

    Robert C. Haydon

    Robert C. Haydon, 83, died March 30, 2009, at Golden Living Center.

    He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Nelba Bourne Haydon.

    He was a member of Graefenburg Baptist Church since 1972. He retired with 33 years of service as an engineer with Blue Grass Energy.

    He was a World War II Army veteran, serving two tours of duty overseas, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

    He was preceded in death by his son, Dan Haydon.

    James David Parks, 51, of Milton, died March 15, 2009, at his residence.

    Born Aug. 25, 1957, in Breathitt County he was the son of the late Luther and Geneva Lansaw Parks and was also preceded in death by his siblings, Jesse, Eugene and Wanda Parks.

  • Eleanor Ligon

    Eleanor B. Ligon, 94, of Owenton, died March 14, 2009, at Owenton Manor.

    Born May 31, 1914, in the South Fork Community of Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Aaron F. and Lucy Jane Gray Ligon. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Grover Gray Ligon and Boyce C. Ligon.

  • Kathy M. Wilhoite

    Kathy M. Wilhoite, 56, of Florence and formerly of Owenton, died March 14, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Hospice Center in Edgewood.

    Born Sept. 4, 1952, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Delmar Moore, and was also preceded in death by her siblings, Vickie Jacobs, Judy Moore and Gene Moore.

    Kathy was a former custodian supervisor at the Florence Mall and a member of the Baptist Faith.

  • Lee Farley Mills

    Lee Farley Mills, 88, of Punta Gorda, Fla., formerly of Dry Ridge, died March 9, 2009, in the Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda.

  • Glen Dews

    Glen Dews, 58, of Sanders, died March 5, 2009, at his residence. 

    Born May 16, 1950, in Georgetown, he was the son of the late John and Beulah Martin Dews and was preceded in death by his brother Florian Dews.

    Glen served in the Army during the Vietnam era and was a member of Carrollton American Legion.He was employed by Milacron.

  • Glenn Thomas Wright

    Glenn Thomas Wright, 85, of Georgetown, formerly of Corinth, died March 3, 2009, at his residence.

    He was born in Owen County, retired from General Motors Corp. in Norwood, Ohio, and was a member and elder with Ray’s Fork Primitive Baptist Church in Corinth. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Wright, in 1989.

    He is survived by a brother, Gayle Wright of Georgetown.

    Services were held March 7, 2009, at McDaniel Funeral Home with Elder Darrell Risner officiating. Burial was in Corinth Cemetery.

  • Raymond “Pete” Johnson

    Raymond “Pete” Johnson, age 78, widower of Martha Vermillion Johnson, died March 6, 2009, at his home.

    He was born in Scott County on Jan. 10, 1931, to the late Raymond and Katie Moss Johnson Sr. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ireane, Lena and Alice.

  • Danny Beckham

    Danny Kay Beckham, 55, of  Glencoe, died Feb. 24, 2009, at his home.

    Born Nov. 19, 1953, he was the son of the late Clarence “Whitey” Beckham and Edna Mae Dempsey. Danny was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Ricky Beckham.

    Danny worked for the state of Kentucky as a diesel mechanic.

    He is survived by his wife, Ina Airington Beckham; two sons, Paul Beckham and Daniel Sydney Beckham, both of Glencoe; one sister, Beverly Jody Minch of Owenton; and three grandchildren, Kaleb, Kylie, and Kandyn Beckham.

  • Richard T. Kemper

    Richard Thomas Kemper, 94, of Monterey, passed away Feb. 27, 2009, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

    Born Oct. 20, 1914, in his family’s log home on Pond Branch, he was the son of the late Gayle Kemper and Irene Thomas Kemper Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Reva Rae Williams Kemper.

    He was a graduate of Monterey High School. Richard was a Greyhound bus driver, retiring after 38 years of service in 1972 to farm. He was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church and te Owen Masonic Lodge #123 F & AM.
