  • Barbara Cook

    Barbara Goodrich Cook, 63, died April 15, 2009, in Florida.

    She was born Dec. 6, 1945, in Hamilton County, Ohio, the daughter of Richard and Mary Kathryn Howell Goodrich. She was a bus driver for the Grant County Schools for 19 years and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

    Eula Ernest, 84, died April 17, 2009, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

    She was born June 23, 1924, in Owen County, the daughter of Amos Sr.  and Eartha Perkins Prather. She was a bus driver for Owen County Schools and attended Bethel Baptist Church.

  • Janis Baldwin Riley

    Janis Baldwin Riley, 78, of Hanover, Ind., died April 15, 2009, at Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover.

  • James H. Rice

    James H. Rice, 95, died April 14, 2009, at his residence following a long illness.

    A native of Owen County, he was born, July 9, 1913, was a farmer, and retired from Kentucky State Government. He was a member of Thornhill Baptist Church.

    He was the son of the late James C. and Anna B. Brissy Rice and was also preceded in death by two daughters, Lois Faye Neal and Carolyn Jean Rice; a grandson, Todd Neal; two brothers, Marvin Edgar Rice and Curtis Rice; and three sisters, Gertrude Rice, Alma Riddle and Mable Malcomb.

  • Robert Lee Collins

    Robert Lee Collins, 83, died April 16, 2009, at New Horizons Medical Center.

    He was born in Kenton County, the son of the late Oscar and Minnie Collins. He was a watchmaker, member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and a WWII Army Veteran, 36th Division.

    He is survived by his wife, Naomi Lee Parsons Collins; two daughters, Kathy Lee Collins of Owenton, and Bobbi Lee King of Carrollton; and three grandchildren.

     A graveside service was held April 20, 2009, at Pleasant Ridge Church Cemetery with Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier officiating.

    Mervin D. McAnally, 79, of Perry Park, died  April 9, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness.

  • Eunice Wainscott

    Eunice Mae “Pooch” Wainscott, 98, of Owenton, died March 31, 2009, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

    Born July 12, 1910, in the Gratz community of Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Sarah Morrow Smoot. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jess Wainscott, and her brother, William Smoot.

  • Kline Jones

    Kline Jones, 46, of Corinth, died April 2, 2009, on Dixie Highway near Corinth from injuries received in an automobile accident.

    He was a self-employed carpenter.

    He is survived by two daughters, Mikala Jones and Madison Jones, both of Harrison County; his father, Orlie Jones of Corinth; his mother, Edith Riddle of Lexington; four sisters, Sheryl Adams of Cynthiana, Kathy Burke of Georgetown, Debbie Glass of Owenton, and Orlana Sparrow of Corinth; and three brothers, Dennis Jones of Owenton, Clifford Jones of Williamstown, and Rodney Jones of Ft. Wright.

    Glenn David Cox

    Glenn David Cox, 61, of Owenton, died March 18, 2009, of a heart attack on his Owen County farm.

    He was born Sept. 18, 1947, and was the son of Glenna Holbert Cox Schrader and the late Kenneth Cox. He was a member of ElBethel Christian Church.

    Besides being a life-long farmer and part-time carpenter, he served two and a half years in the U.S. Army, including 13 months in Vietnam. During his military tenure, he was a top-security military police officer, communications specialist, and sergeant.

    Glenn David Cox, 61, of Owenton, died March 18, 2009, of a heart attack on his Owen County farm.
