  • Cameron Andrew Wagner

    Cameron Andrew Wagner, 18, died Aug. 1, 2009, from injuries sustained in an ATV accident in the Green Bay, Wis., area.

    Born Dec. 3, 1990, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Cameron was the son of Greg and Lorri Wagner of Delafield,Wis. He was a 2009 graduate of Kettle Moraine High School. Cameron and his family were members of Oakwood Church in Hartland, Wis., where he was active in youth groups. Cameron had just returned from a missions trip in Costa Rica.

  • Hazel B. Howard Simpson

    Hazel B. Howard Simpson, 89, of Owenton, passed away  Aug. 6, 2009, at Owenton Manor. Born February of 1920, she was the daughter of the late Gusta and Martha Howard. Hazel. She was was also preceded in death by her husband, James; three brothers, Herschel, Floyd, and Horace Howard; and three sisters, Eula and Helen Howard and Rachel Chapman.

    Hazel was a homemaker and member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.

  • Della Cammack Burford

    Della Cammack Burford, 71, of Owenton, passed away Aug. 3, 2009, at Owenton Manor.

    Born Nov. 11, 1937, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late W.B. and Adele Stamper Cammack and the widow of Leland Burford. Della was a former waitress and a member of Beechgrove Baptist Church.

    She is survived by her two daughters, Paula and Daniel Haidet of Sparta and Lisa Smith of Owenton; two brothers, Pat and Billy Cammack of Owenton; one sister, Elizabeth Elam of Verona; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Bridget Smith; and three great-grandchildren, Alexis, Dixie and Chevy.

  • John William Carr

    John William Carr, 47, of Owen County, died Aug. 1, 2009.

    Born in Louisville, he was the son of Jerry Lee and Carole Canupp Carr. He was a brother in Christ, a member of Caney Fork Baptist Church, and an evangelist. Mr. Carr was an assembly worker for Toyota, an avid outdoorsman, and a triathlete.

  • Evon Davis Samuels

    Evon Davis Samuels, 89, of Owenton, died July 28, 2009, at Owenton Manor.

    She was the daughter of the late Bee and Ida Ann Davis. She was the wife of the late Luke Samuels. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Juanita Hopkins.

    She is survived by three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Aug. 1, 2009, at New Liberty Cemetery. The Rev. Chris Hagan officiated.

  • Charles Grugin

    Charles Grugin, 83, died July 30, 2009, at his residence.

    He was the son of the late Estill Cambridge and Minnie Claxon Grugin. He was also preceded in death by his brother, William Claxon Grugin.

    Charles retired from the corrections department with the state government. He was a member of Monterey Christian Church.

  • Carlis Lee Shelton

    Carlis Lee Shelton, 67, of Georgetown, died July 26, 2009, at Hospice Care Center in Lexington.

    A native of Owen County, he was the son of the late Roscoe and Ora Perkins Shelton and was a member of Trinity Assembly of God Church.

  • David Allen Smoot

    David Allen Smoot, 73, of Carrollton, passed away July 23, 2009, at Baptist Hospital-East in LaGrange.

    Born January 1936, he was the son of the late Carl Smoot and Margaret Dunavent. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Snow.

  • Della L. Jones

    Della L. Jones, 106, died July 14, 2009, at Grant Manor Health Care Center in Williamstown.

    Mrs. Della Jones was a retired teacher/librarian for Owen County Schools;  a Kentucky Colonel; the last surviving member of Oggs Chapel C.M.E. Church in Williamstown; and a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She received a “Doctor of Humane Letters” degree from Kentucky State University this past May.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Sarah Jackson Lewis; and her husband, Bradley Jones.

  • Bobby Warfield

    Bobby Chrisman Warfield, 64, of Carrollton, died July 13, 2009, at Green Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center.

     

    He was born Oct. 3, 1944, in Owen County to Joe and Carrie Traylor Warfield.

     

    He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Ralph, Walter, Bill and Buddy Warfield.
