  • Nella Edna Perkins

    Nella Edna Perkins, 87, passed away Aug. 23, 2009, at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital. 

    Born Feb. 21, 1922, in Harlan County, she was the daughter of the late Austin and Bertha Clem Chasteen and was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. Nella was a homemaker and a member of Church of God.

  • Judy Carol Hearne Osborne

    Judy Carol Hearne Osborne, 64, of Owenton, died Aug. 19, 2009, in Frankfort.

    She was born in Henry County, the daughter of the late W.C. and Maranda Smith Hearne. Judy was most recently employed at Saveway Supermarket. Prior to that she worked at Dairy Queen; Druthers; and the state of Kentucky for 10 years. She was a member of the Owenton Methodist Church.

    Pauline Jones Clements, 78, of Shelbyville, died Aug. 21, 2009, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

  • Charles Osborne Sr.

    Charles Osborne Sr., 86, of Worthville, died Aug. 19, 2009, at King’s Daughters Hospital in Madison, Ind.

    Born Aug. 8, 1923, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of the late Earl James and Margaret Ellen Ennis Osborne. He was preceded in death by a son, Danny Osborne; and five brothers, Jess, Earl, Jr., Eugene, and Harold Osborne.  Charles was a farmer and a member of Stonewall Baptist Church.

  • Ed Ashcraft

    James Edgar “Ed” Ashcraft, 64, of Owen County, died Aug. 15, 2009, at St. Luke Hospice in Ft. Thomas.

    Born Aug. 31, 1944, in Covington, he was the son of the late Edgar Eldon Ashcraft. Ed was a retired horse trainer and a member of the Owenton First Baptist Church.

  • Floyd Kincaid

    Floyd Kincaid, 86, of the Lusby’s Mill community in Owen County, passed away Aug. 16, 2009, at the Thomson Hood Veteran’s Center in Wilmore. 

    Born March 1, 1923, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of the late Hubert and Ethel Mae Tolbert Kincaid. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Wilma and Harold Hughes and Kathleen and Raymond Duncan; and his brother, Woodrow Kincaid. 

  • Retta Edrington

    Retta Mae Edrington, 67, of Camden, Ohio, died Aug. 16, 2009.

    Born Sept. 7, 1941, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Menifee and Nannie Frances Kemper Shields. Retta moved to the Camden area in 1969 and had worked at Oxford View Nursing Home for 27 years. She had attended the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Pleasant Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Kenneth “Big John” Edrington in 1993.

  • Billy Moore

    Billy W. “Red Bill” Moore, 48, of Gratz, passed away  July 24, 2009, at his residence in Gratz.

    He was the son of the late Billy Carroll and Sarah Louise Smithers Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kimberly Moore.

    Survivors include his wife, Connie S. Moore; a daughter, Kimberly Fight of Indiana; a son, Jeremy L. Perkins of Indiana; two brothers, Jerry Ettinger of Gratz and Ruben Moore of Frankfort; a sister, Charlene Bishop of Frankfort; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

  • Joyce Combs

    Joyce Eldridge Combs, 66, of Owen County, died unexpectedly at her home Aug. 10, 2009.

    Born May 15, 1943, in Livingston, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Bertie Vincent Lacy and the widow of Norman Combs. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Jesse, Curtis, Alfred and Roland Lacy, and Lilian Walker. Joyce was a homemaker and a quilter.

    She is survived by her son, Fred Roberts Jr. of Jonesville; her daughter, Tammy Carmack of Monterey; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

  • Everett B. Taylor

    Everett B. Taylor

    Everett B. Taylor, 59 of Corinth died July 27, 2009, at his residence. He was the son off the late Bill and Flora Gaines Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his brother, W.T. Taylor. Everett was a farmer.  

    He is survived by his wife, Martha Judy Taylor of Corinth;  his sons, Brian Taylor of Lexington and Mark McKenzie of Corinth;  a sister, Vernus Taylor of Owenton; and a granddaughter, Shadow Brook King.
