    Dorothy Ellen “Dot” Mullannix, 80, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at her residence.
    Survivors include her son, Danny T. (Diane) Mullannix of Nicholasville.
    The funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at the Main Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Burial was in the Owenton Cemetery.
     

  • Elizabeth Rosella Martin

    Elizabeth Rosella Martin, 69, passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at the University of Louisville Hospital.
    Survivors include her husband, Roy Martin of Worthville; her daughter, Suzanna Jones of Glencoe; and two sons, Ernie Ligon and Joshua David Martin, both of Worthville.
    The funeral was held Jan. 6, 2011 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.

    Wilma Davis, 74, Verona, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at her residence.
    The funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at the Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home in Verona. Burial was in the New Bethel Cemetery in Verona.
     

  • Rachel Littrell Cannon

    Rachel Littrell Cannon, 90, passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at her Worthville residence.
    She is survived by two sons, R.C. Cannon of Wheatley and Donnie Cannon of Worthville; and a daughter, Carolyn Cannon of Northwood, Ohio.
    The funeral was held Jan. 4 at the Sparta Baptist Church. Burial was in the Owenton Cemetery.
    Allison & Rose Funeral Home in Taylor Mill was in charge of arrangements.
     

  • Jewel Branum Simpson

    Jewel Branum Simpson, 77, of Glencoe, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at her residence.
    Survivors include a son, Gene Stanley Simpson, II of Glencoe; and a daughter,
    Debbie Simpson Krueger of Union;
    The funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at the Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home in Verona.  Burial was in the New Bethel Cemetery in Verona.
     

  • Carl Stewart

    Carl Stewart, 80, of Owenton, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at the Saint  Joseph Hospital East in Lexington.
    Born Jan. 16, 1931, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Alton and Betty Stewart.
    Mr. Stewart was retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the Department of Finance as a maintenance superintendent. He was a member of the Poplar Grove Baptist Church, the Owenton/Owen County Volunteer Fire Department and was a former deputy sheriff.

  • Daniel Balllard

    Daniel Scott “Dan” Ballard, 46, of Owenton passed away Friday, Dec., 2011, from injuries sustained in a auto accident.
    Born July 28, 1965, in Frankfort, he was a 1984 graduate of Owen County High School. He recently retired from the Transportation Cabinet in motor-vehicle Licensing.  He was also a farmer, a former commissioner on the Carroll County Water Board,  formerly on the Monterey and Lockport volunteer fire departments and was member of the Lockport Baptist Church. 
    He was preceded in death by his sister, Vicki Ann Ballard.

  • Mildred Acree

    Mildred Acree, 88, passed away Monday, Dec.  26, 2011, at the Owenton Manor.
    Born Dec. 9, 1923 in Owen County she was the daughter of the late Walker and Clara Clifton Cook and the widow of Clifford Acree.
    Also preceding her in death were her son, Donald Scott; her siblings, Ed, Charlie, Jim and David Cook and Isabel House; as well as two grandchildren.
    Mrs. Acree was a homemaker, farmer and a seamstress at the Essex Factory and Fruit of the Loom. She was also a member of the Mussel Shoals Baptist Church.

    Marietta “Mommietta” Collins Wheeler, 92, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011 at the St. Elizabeth Hospice Care Center in Florence.
    She is survived by son, Richard Paul (Diana) Wheeler of Cincinnati, Ohio; and her daughter, Billie Jo (Donald Ray) Landrum of Walton.
    The funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at the Main Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Lexington.
