  • Everett Lee “Jinks” Willoughby

    Everett Lee “Jinks” Willoughby, 54, passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at his residence.  
    He was the husband of Kellie Porter Willoughby of Glencoe.  
    He is also survived by his two sons, Josh (Jamie) Willoughby of Owenton and Brent (Tori) Willoughby of Bellvue and one daughter, Brittany Willoughby of Louisville.
    The funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Main Street location of the McDonald and New Funeral Homes. Burial was in the Poplar Grove Cemetery.

  • Floren T. Slaughter

    Floren T. Slaughter, 85, passed away Friday Feb. 1, 2013, at his home.
    He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Owenton United Methodist Church. He retired from Kraft Foods as a lab technician after 37 years.
    Surviving are his wife, Mollie Jane Smith Slaughter; two children, Lois Gaines and Ed Slaughter; two granddaughters, Cindy Gaines and Stephanie (Dale) Hudson; five great-grandchildren, Jake, Jeremy and Josh Hudson, Bethany Bottoms and Matthew Wilburn; and a great-great-granddaughter, Annabel Hudson.

  • Carl “Junie” Tackett

    Carl “Junie” Tackett, 86, who was born in Scott County on March 5, 1926, to Cleveland and Thelma Greenup Tackett, passed away at his home Feb. 1, 2013.
    He was the husband of 67 years to Mary Katherine Stevens Tackett.  He owned and operated Carl’s TV Repair for 50 years, worked in TV repair for Barney Millers and Montgomery Ward. A well-known farmer, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing guitars and cards with his family. He especially enjoyed his lake house on Elmer Davis Lake in Owenton.

  • Agnes Marie Wilson

    Agnes Marie Wilson, 85, of Louisville and formerly of Owenton, passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2013, at the Essex Health and Rehab Center in Louisville.
    She was the widow of John L. Wilson.
    Survivors include her daughter, Edie Franklin of Louisville.
    The funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at the Main Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Homes Burial was in the Squiresville Cemetery.

  • Herget Winston Sewell

    Herget Winston Sewel, 81, of Boone County, passed away Jan. 20, 2013, in Owen County.
    He was the son of the late Carl Oscar and Minnie Dovie Webb Sewell.
    Graveside services were held Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Big Bone Baptist Church Cemetery in Union.
    The Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home of Verona was in charge of all arrangements.
     

  • Olga E. Otten

    Olga E. Otten, 103, of Erlanger,  passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Baptist Village Care Center.
    She is survived by her daughters, Norma Koors of Florence, Glenna Smith of Sharonville, Ohio, Myra June Vice of Hendersonville, N.C., and Geneva Otten of Cincinnati, Ohio,
    The funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at the Linnemann Funeral Home in Erlanger. Burial was in Hebron Lutheran Cemetery.  

     

  • Shay A. Frohn

    Shay A. Frohn, 63, of Edgewood and Perry Park, passed away Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013.
    Survivors include her husband Joe Frohn. 
    The family will receive friends Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at the Middendorf Funeral Home in Fort Wright, starting at 10 a.m. The funeral service will begin at noon at the funeral home.

  • Evelyn L. Wainscott Bourne

    Evelyn L. Wainscott Bourne, 83, of Owenton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, in Louisville.
    She was the daughter of the late John and Edna Heath Wainscott.
    Survivors include her daughter, Beverly L. (Wayne) Aldridge of Pleasureville.
    The funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 25, 2013, at the Seminary Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Burial was in the Owenton Cemetery.
     

  • Jerry Wright

    Jerry Wright, 62, of Sparta, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at the Hospice Care Center at St. Joseph in Lexington.
    He was the son of the late Ralph and Eunice Boone Wright.
    He is survived by his wife, Myrtie Wilson Wright; his sons, Jeremy (Susanne) Wright, Wesley (Debbie) Wright and Jason Wright; and his daughter, Jessica (Jarrod) Wilder.

  • John W. Howard

    John W. Howard, 83, of Frankfort, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at his residence.
    He was the son of the late Lawrence and Mae Estes Howard.
    Survivors inlcude his wife, Geraldine Hundley Howard of Frankfort.
    Private graveside services were held Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at the Owenton Cemetery.
    The McDonald & New Funeral Homes was in charge of all arrangements.
