  • Martin Ray Jones

    Martin Ray Jones, 46, of Owenton passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at his residence.
    He is survived by his wife, Debbie Elaine Osborne Jones; his father, Bobby Jones of Owenton; and his mother, Beverly Sue Nippert Jones of Gainesville, Fla.
    The funeral services were held Saturday, June 2, 2012, at the Main Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Homes.

    Raymond Joseph “Bubs” Wiedemer, 24, of Cynthiana, died Saturday, May 26, 2012, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
    He is survived by his parents, Raymond Joseph Wiedemer Sr. and Teresa Sullivan Teegarden; his mothers, Terri Wiedemer and Alena Petty; a brother, Josh Wiedemer; four sisters, Christina Grieser, Casey Trapp, Samantha Wiedemer, and Stacey Wiedemer.

    Emily Riley, 80, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

  • Bessie Hawkins

    Bessie Hawkins, 93 of Owenton, passed away on May 24, 2012.
    Bessie was born Feb. 20, 1919 to William and Edna Campbell.
    She received her B.S. degree from the University of Kentucky and while there met her husband, O.D. Hawkins, then known as Tony. They were happily married for 64 years.
    Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and sisters, Marie Campbell, Edna Mae Sharp and Amy Francis Campbell.

  • Virginia Gullon

    Virginia Maddox Gullion, 88, of Sparta, passed away Monday, May 21, 2012, at the Gallatin Health Care.
    She is survived by her four sons, Dudley Gullion of Glencoe, Sidney Gullion of Sparta, Tommy Gullion of Corinth, and Henry Gullion III of Morland, Kan.
    The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2012, at the Garnett-New-McDonald Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery.
     

  • Carolyn Giles Marksberry

    Carolyn Giles Marksberry, 55, of Owenton, passed away Friday, May 18, 2012, at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.
    Born Nov. 28, 1956, in Owenton, she was the daughter of the late Garrett L. Giles and preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Wayne Marksberry and her brother, David Lynn Giles.
    Carolyn had worked in the restaurant business all her life and had owned many restaurants, including, Scoopy Doo and Lakeview in Owenton, The Churchill in Carrollton and Bun Boy and C.E’s Place in Warsaw.

  • Virginia Gullon

    Virginia Maddox Gullion, 88, of Sparta, passed away Monday, May 21, 2012, at the Gallatin Health Care.

    Louise O’Banion Cobb, 89, of Owenton, passed away Monday, May 21, 2012, at the Owenton Manor.
    She was the wife of the late Thomas E. “Doc” Cobb.
    The family will receive friends Thursday, May 24, 2012, at the Main Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Homes starting at 11 a.m. The funeral services will begin at 2 p.m.

    Vivian Marie Ireland O’Banion passed away on May 5, 2012, at the Owenton Manor Care and Rehab Center, where she lived for almost 12 years, enjoying all the activities; church and bingo being her favorites.
    Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Willie C. O’Banion, who passed away in 1980; her parents, Cecil and Hallie Hudson Ireland; her brother, Garland Ray Ireland; and her sister, Anna Louise Kenney.

  • Hallie Papierski

    Hallie Auduas Papierski, 90, of Lexington, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2012, at the New Horizons Medical Center in Owenton.
    Born Aug. 3, 1921, in Owen County and was the daughter of the late Owen and Maggie Tucker Hammond. She was the widow of Thomas Audas and Arthur Papierski. Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Nora Hammond, Myrtle Beckham and Nellie Worthington and her brothers, Claude, Albert, Chester, Elmer, Marvin and Owen Jr.
