Carson Williams is a peer mentor for Terri Mears’ second-grade class at the Owen County Lower
“This kids absolutely love him,” Mears said. “Last Thursday half my class stayed after school and made posters, ate pizza, watched a movie and then we were shuttled to the high school to watch their ‘hero.’”
Mears said Williams was in her second-grade class 10 years ago.
“He has spoken to my current second graders, the class of 2026, about his choice of studying criminal justice, along with playing basketball for NKU,” Mears said. “He has spoken to them about setting goals, working hard to get good grades and making good choices so that they can graduate high school and attend a college like he will be doing.”
Williams reads with the students, practices sight words and works on various second-grade skills. He also takes them to the gym for a few rounds of basketball, Mears said.
